Five people are dead and 40 more injured after a stage collapsed tonight at the Indiana State Fair before the country band Sugarland was to perform.
High winds were believed to have been the cause.
A reporter for WANE-TV in Indiana was in the crowd at the time and described what happened like this: "The wind just picked up and the stage just caught and the roof just
caught and it went up like a sail and then it crashed forward into the
people standing in the front. There were people trapped underneath and
everyone was running and screaming. They were asking any medics or
nurses not to leave."

There are at least a dozen people hurt. According to the National Weather Service it was a huge gust of wind that knocked the rigging of a tarp down to the ground. There are possibly people trapped under the collapsed stage.
Dave Lindquist, music journalist for The Indianapolis Star, reported on Twitter, "Tragedy at fair concert. Entire stage collapses on track." He also wrote that "perhaps a dozen injured people have been removed from track on stretcher-type boards."
SugArland. What a total shame, they're actually amazing live and their stage set up is incredible. I heard some are trapped/ dead?
I was at that show sitting feet from where the stage collapse. They said they may evacuate and several people started to. Then the stage just blew over we had to run out of the way. My group of 6 turned around a did what we could to help. There are a lot of injured people we helped until asked to leave. Please pray for all those people and the kids who were stuck under there.
