JAVARIS CRITTENTON

Arrested at California Airport

8/30/2011 6:00 AM PDT BY TMZ STAFF

Former NBA player Javaris Crittenton has been arrested after trying to board an airplane in Orange County, CA.

Crittenton had checked in for a flight to Atlanta last night, where his lawyer said he was going to surrender in a murder case. He was taken to an L.A. police station and booked on suspicion of being a fugitive from justice, the FBI confirms to the Washington Post.

Javaris, who played for the Washington Wizards, was wanted for murder in the shooting death of 22-year-old Julian Jones.

As TMZ previously reported, cops believe Crittenton was not aiming at Jones -- but rather someone else in the area who may have robbed the former basketball player back in April.

Javaris Crittenton was trying to shoot a robber and missed. Do you know how many innocent people our troops have accidentally killed while going after the bad guys? The woman he killed was 23 years old, had 4 kids, and was walking with the robber. Now let's keep it real. I'm not saying she deserved to die, but she obviously ain't Mother Teresa either.

He didn't mean to shoot her but he shouldn't have been shooting anyway. Then he ran making it worse. He was a good player, i don't what happened. Some people don't learn, and the judge is gonna hit him hard. Trust me, aint no lawyer gonna save his a**.

DAMN! How do you go from playing basketball for the LA. Lakers making millions to being an "allege" murderer suspect on the run?

Vast majority of celebrity's are nothing more then scandalous criminals hiding behind their big paychecks and shady past. There used to be a time you look up to celebs, that's no longer the case.

Leader of the ignorant masses

Right. I am certain he was turning himself in. I was on my way to see you i swear. If this guy gets off because of some expensive lawyer with no soul who exploits the legal system i will officially lose what little faith i have left in our court system.

What's with all these overpaid athletes who still commit crimes? Is being a privileged sports star really that boring?
