Soulja Boy

Sgt. Records MAJOR Diss Track

Wants Rapper Banned

9/6/2011 5:00 AM PDT BY TMZ STAFF

Soulja Boy
is drawing fire from the entire U.S. Armed Forces -- and a retired Army sergeant is leading the charge with a rap response to Soulja's controversial song.

Former infantry sergeant and 5 year combat veteran Leo Dunson tells TMZ he recorded the diss track, "Change Your Name" (below) ... after hearing Soulja's "Let's Be Real" -- with the lyrics, "F**k the army troops."

Dunson -- who raps under the name Sgt. Dunson -- says Soulja's song is, "The most ignorant thing I've heard in so long" ... and adds that it's especially offensive with the 10 year anniversary of 9/11 looming.

Dunson says an online petition -- started by a fellow vet -- to get Soulja Boy's music banned from all U.S. military bases is getting support from civilians and all branches of the armed forces.

Now consider this twist ... Dunson and all U.S. troops fight to defend our freedoms -- which includes freedom of speech. So, we gotta ask ...

Soulja Boy is stupid and wrong. But I don't think the government should ban things on the grounds that they're merely offensive to some people. Talking about bans is scary, saying that people have to respect the troops or else is scary, and both are reminiscent of fascism. As it happens I do respect the troops, think Soulja Boy is an idiot, and didn't buy his stuff anyway. It seems to me lots of people who didn't buy his stuff anyway jump on any bandwagon to be upset about, provided it suits their politics.

Just because you CAN say it..doesn't mean you should. Especially anything negative about our troops. The very ones who defend our rights and freedoms. With that being said, many in the military community who have fought for his right to bash them do not want his CD's in their exchanges. Fair is fair, let him have his freedoms, and let them exercise theirs as well!

Soulja deserves to be drafted so he can learn to appreciate what 'real' soldiers do to protect us. Then again, he would probably be considered a liability in combat situations and would end up getting discharged anyway.

The best way to deal with someone in this context is to ignore them, instead of giving them legitimacy by wasting much more of your time than necessary thinking of mediocre ways to insult inconsequential people who offend you. Basically, you look like much more of a f*cking toolbag p*ssy if you take time out of your day to record a "diss track" in response to someone than you would if you just said, "idiot," and continued with your day.

What's the matter Soulja Boy? Did you not get a cute little pony for your 12th birthday and have to insult men and women fighting and dying across the globe in an environment you wouldn't last 5 seconds in you clown? You are pathetic.

Of course, 'Soulja Boi' has the freedom of speech to say whatever he wants. I do not think for a second that there are more than a couple dozen people who wish to CENSOR him.

But do not post a poll with a FALSE CHOICE of 'Free Speech' or 'Gone Too Far'. It is plain to most everyone reading that the answer is BOTH.

If the Supreme Court has allowed the burning of our flag as a form of free speech, then this loser can have his opinion about the military. I am in the military and to be honest, with the amount of attention this guy is getting, this is exactly what he wants. Lord know he will not be recognized for his "talents" so he has to do something controversial to stay relevant such as lying about buying an airplane. Let this guy join the ranks of Biz Markie and Sir Mixalot as one hit wonders...if you consider Superman a hit.

I'm sure that besides this guy, they have plenty of music that contains lyrics that are offensive in one way or another. This story reminds me of Issac Hayes quitting South Park because the were making fun of Scientology....but when they were making fun of other religions, it was all good.

Yea sure, US troops are really good at defending our freedoms in OTHER countries while invading them unprovoked and stealing their resources.

By no means am I condoning what he said, I think he needs to appologize big time. BUT, what can you expect? The Americans spent something like 3 trillion dollars this year to put towards the war. 1.6 trillion of that, was given directly to your military. Americans live and breath war, you are always involved in some kind of fight with someone. You spend more money on war and violence, then on peace and education, and you are proud of it!!! So when some ignorant jackass says something that offends your military, your all over his ass!!! Get your priorities straight. You can't breed violence and stupidity for years and years, and expect your young people to know anything outside of your bubble.

@Brandi, I'm sorry, but "because you can" is the exact reason you should. When you start talk about about things other people "should" and "should not" say you are talking about taking freedom away.

His lyrics are included in free speech. They also went to far and I don't agree with him. I am vehemently against these wars. I feel they have been launched to enrich the military contractors (look it up... they have done extremely well and have had connections to the decision makers... or were the decision makers.)

However, I do not condone any lyric that disrespects those who put their lives on the line. These young people have made great sacrifices and were trying to do the best for their country. Soulja Boy.... you can show anger at the war without insulting our soldiers.
