11/7/2011 6:00 AM PST BY TMZ STAFF

Lindsay Lohan in court
Lindsay Lohan
checked into the Century Regional Detention Facility in Lynwood, CA at 8:48PM PST to begin serving her 30 day jail sentence ... according to the L.A. County Sheriff's Department website.

As TMZ previously reported, Lindsay is expected to be released within hours of her arrival due to jail overcrowding.

Sheriff's spokesman Steve Whitmore has said LiLo might have to spend overnight behind bars ... IF there are several other inmates checking out at the same time. L.A. traffic.

For now ... she's still in custody.

Lindsay looks to be in her 40's. I love the affects of hard drug use.

p.s. - What happened to the three strikes law? Shouldn't she be a lifer by now?

TMZ get so many things wrong its laughable. First they said Lindsay could be jailed for up to 18 months. Then they said maybe 30 minutes. Its neither!. Lindsays lawyer would have told Lindsay exactly what to expect so there are no surprises for Lindsay. Shes in jail, get off her back.

Wouldnt it be hilarious, if TMZ was wrong and they kept her in for a few weeks.

Nov 16..wow she didn't see that coming either, I would assume. That's about right for 30 days too. I hate to be negative, but I'll believe it when I see it. Now wait for the Nicole tear up Sautner, after loving her, it's an injustice of November 2, Linnocent, blah blah blah. Hell she might of as well did all of her time, as everyone as said, and get it over with. Why would Holley go that route unless Lindsay was just adamant about not doing any time?

can anyone get this right? Nov 16 listed was probably the date she should have been released per her 30 days, but due to overcrowding...whatever.

I'm sure she's learned her lesson from the mere seconds she spent in jail this time. Ugh

Well there doesn't seem to be a difference between getting arrested, booked, processed and released OR a 30 day sentence in California. It takes the same amount of time.

I guess if you just go through the booking and then later are found to be guilty of a misdemeanor and sentenced to 30 days you get released for "time served" from the "lengthy" booking process.

L.A County jails are a joke.

Its obvious.

The only sentence that will stick is never ending community service at the morgue.

Sentencing her to jail is like closing the barn door after your Lindsay Lohan gets out!

Criminals should just stay in LA. CANNOT believe how they get sentenced & do NOTHING! That doesn't happen here. Too crowded, home monitoring... check in daily, SOMETHING! No wonder they're so overcrowded. No incentive to stop!
