Alec Baldwin Issues

TOTALLY Unapologetic Apology

12/7/2011 2:50 PM PST BY TMZ STAFF

Alec Baldwin just went OFF about American Airlines, its employees, post 9/11 travel, and the entire airline industry -- and best of all ... this rant came wrapped in an apology.

In his letter, just published on Huffingtonpost.com, Baldwin begins by apologizing to passengers on yesterday's flight ... saying, "It was never my intention to inconvenience anyone with my 'issue' with a certain flight attendant." He claims the woman singled him out to "make some example of me."

Baldwin continues ... "It's no secret that the level of service on US carriers has deteriorated to a point that would make Howard Hughes red-faced. Filthy planes, barely edible meals, cuts in jet service to less-traveled locations."

He also claims the industry used 9/11 "as an excuse to make the air travel experience as inelegant as possible."

In his closing shot, Baldwin says many flight attendants "walk the aisles of an airplane with a whistle around their neck and a clipboard in their hands," and make air travel a "Greyhound bus experience."

Best apology ever.

Note to Alec: On Greyhound, you can play "Words with Friends" all you want.

What an idiot. He thinks the "turn off cell phones" doesn't apply to him because he's an actor with a big head? What an idiot.

He's got balls! In a nation of crybabies and politically correct bull, it's nice to see someone like him stand up for our rights as consumers and expose the idiocy and hypocrisy that's enveloping our society. Alec, I love you man, keep hope alive brother!!

Mr. Baldwin is blaming others for his lack of self-control again? Then follows it up with an elitist perception and arrogantly assumes Greyhound travel is synonymous with his experience of air travel. I've been in first class and on buses...the rudest, most demanding and childish people have been the first class folks. Impossible to please and think the rules don't apply to them. His ego is apparently massive, but he would do well to conduct himself in a dignified manner and remember that he is more blessed than most.

There is a clear distinction between the traveled and less traveled in the conversation.

Alec sounds like a guy who's use to getting his own way. He does have a point though, entering an airport today is like entering a Stalinist police state.
And we incurred a $1.2 trillion war because airport security failed to screen for a pair of $1.00 box cutters.

Gosh, I think it sucks that Baldwin had to fly COMMERCIAL. No wonder he was pissed off. He's already a "second class celebrity" if he doesn't have his own jet.

Way to go Alec-nothing like blasting the very people and companies that would be sponsoring your TV shows! Keep up the great work, pretty soon you won't have a job to worry about and then you can play games all day long!

Flying is no longer pleasant. Alec is right on about every note. Fat people in abundance with seatbelt extensions and lucky to be offered water. I fly because I have to. I drive when it becomes remotely possible.

He's actually right about 9/11. Since 9/11 the industry has made some crazy rules that make no sense. They have used it to gouge and to cut service. They charge extra for "security" while providing no real security. Food used to be passable and provided with your trip now you pay for it and unless you are in first or business class it's horrible. Some attendants are nice and love their jobs, many of them are just bullies. And sometimes there is no choice in airlines and they gouge even further. He may have a temper but that doesn't make him wrong.

Greyhound comment aside... Alec is right about airline service and planes today... They are filthy, they smell and I am surprise that they can get off the ground. They make the old Russian airlines look like luxury.
