Now this is painful -- TMZ has learned, "Relationship Rehab" producers approached Heidi Montag and Spencer Pratt to work out their issues on the show ... and the couple flat-out rejected their offer.
Speidi's reasoning -- they're actually on great terms ... and don't have any issues to work out.
Sources close to Speidi tell us, the couple was initially intrigued -- thinking the show was actually about working out together ... as in yoga, or something like it. They had no idea it was for couples with real issues.
We're told the couple felt the money wasn't great either, so they passed on the show. Spencer and Heidi turning down a chance at spotlight ... we're speechless.

Spencer Pratt is attending USC (university of southern california) right now finishing his degree... I see Heidi there all the time with him supporting him. In real life they are a really cute couple.
why are you guys giving these guys the time of day? I thought we were done we these tools. Isn't this the second day in a row that you posted a picture and story about Pratt and Spencer? Are you trying to tell us something? If this is part of push to get these two has beens back in the public eye I don't believe it will work. We are passed caring about them. Didn't you learn anything from the Salahi's?
You should consider hiring adults to write your copy because you either have adolescent girls writing or an adult who is .... what do they call it now? Oh yeah, "developmentally delayed." Did anyone read the above crap and approve it?
Their fifteen minutes was over a year ago, please lets not dredge them up again.
Somethings up with these two have they had an epiphany and realized what fools they have been and want to keep that mess to themselves or is there another project in the works?
