Montel Williams

Reinstating DRAFT Could

Stop Bad Military Behavior

1/12/2012 10:32 AM PST BY TMZ STAFF

Former talk show host Montel Williams tells TMZ ... "making" U.S. citizens join the military could help PREVENT soldiers from acting like the "bad apples" featured in the urination footage.

Williams -- a retired Naval officer who started with the U.S. Marines -- hooked up with us via satellite this morning and explained that our soldiers in the field, including the guys in the footage, are likely stressed out from carrying such a heavy workload.

"The stresses must be getting to the point that it caused some of this ... why don't we spread out that stress and start making more people put on the uniform and defend this democracy?"

Williams claims only .25% of the U.S. population is serving in the military ... and says, "Maybe it's about time that this country wake up and understand that we can't put the pressure of defending our democracy on less than .25% of this entire population."

Well now that im in my 30's... sure why not. Lets do it! Kids these days are a lot more terrible than they were when i was growing up. Parents arent parenting anymore and the government and states are taking over, might as well let them take completely over.
This post is both sincere and sarcastic.

Ever think that the only reason 25% of the population joins the military because the other 75% doesn't believe in the way its operated? Everyone wants to do their part in protecting the country, it shouldn't be forced on people to hold guns and do it the way the government thinks it should be done. Not these days at least.

Maybe we shouldn't even be in a war in the first place.

MAKING people do something against their will doesn't sound very democratic.

I think that people should have to serve in the military after high school based on their GPA. Scaled something like this: 3.75 and above = Basic Training only 3.0 to 3.75 = 1 year of service. 2.5 - 3.0 = 2 years of service Below 2.5 = 4 years. Dropout = 6 years. I think that dropouts should also lose any type of Social Security or Government financial assistance (food stamps, unemployment, etc..) until they have completed their 6 years of duty and done so with honor.

Montel Williams obviously doesn't remember the Vietnam War and how well that worked out. I don't have much respect for a man who really believes in psychics like stupid Sylvia Brown. We are not defending democracy over there either, wake up. It is all about money. Don't tell American mothers what to do with their sons until it is YOUR son that is going over there. This is not STRESS that these soldiers ae suffering from, it's stupidity. There are thousands of men over there now under much more stress who would NEVER think of doing something so ignorant as this. Just because you passed the muster of being a Marine does not mean that you are beyond becoming a weak person and bow to peer pressure. These Marines are the lowest and should be reprimanded to the fullest extent of the law.

Thank you Montel! These dudes volunteer to risk their lives & then get brought before tribunals routinely. What's the point anymore. I'm personally support what they did. If the shoe were on the other foot, they would have done worse to our dead soldiers. They were trying to kill our boys, you f*cking morons! Give these ninjas the Purple Heart! They should have sh*t on the f*ckers then wiped their @sses with their nappy f*cking beards!

Huh? They are slimming down the military anyway. Those who are enlisted cannot find work and Panetta and Obama have said that it is unlikely that we will have ground troops. We are getting out of Afghanistan in 2 years so hopefully in 2014, the U.S. military will not be in any country. Also, with what money? There is a reason why .25% of the population are in the military and it's because maybe they are the only ones with the mental load reserve to do it and even in that pool there are a few who are unfit.

The people that are in the military have a choice to be there and for some they just can't make the best choices such as this one. So how would making people do something they don't want to do make it any better?

Forcing citizens to join the military will "stop bad behavior." Montel, I love you, but you may be smoking a little to much kush. Forcing people to join the military will increase bad behavior, you have heard of Vietnam, right?
There is a double standard in what we want our soldiers to do and what we train them to do.

Movie example, Full Metal Jacket:
www.youtube.com/watch?v=YwjHhJdhY0I

Marines are train to annihilate the enemy. To look at the enemy, not as a human, but as a target, a combatant.
