New Jersey Mayor

Keep Snooki's Spin-Off

OUT of My Town!!!

Snooki and Jwoww's new spin-off just hit a nasty snag in New Jersey -- because the town where they planned to shoot the reality show has rejected their request for a film permit.

The Mayor of Hoboken Dawn Zimmer just made the announcement on her website, claiming the Hoboken Film Commission unanimously voted to deny the permit to 495 Productions "based on protecting public safety and quality of life concerns for Hoboken residents."

According to the mayor -- there's a laundry list of problems with approving a 24-hour permit in Hoboken, the least of which is a local policy that prohibits ALL filming after 11pm in residential areas.

The mayor claims filming the show would result in an "unacceptable lessening of the quality of life for the local residents and businesses" -- causing traffic, creating large noisy crowds, and completely disrupting day-to-day life.

Of course, Snooki can also stimulate a local economy -- so is banning her really worth it? Probably.

If I was the mayor I would want the same thing. They ruin the reputation of Italians and New Jersey.

I am from Jersey all my life the way those wannabee people from Staten Island act is disrespectful to us true Jersey people. This show reminds me of the times in the early 80s when it was ok to be like this and not even that bad.You partied but had responsabilties to deal with these people are making huge money for acting like wackos while I sit home wishing I could work again but to see them act like sluts and drunks and have the who cares attitude it is so sad. So please dont think the Jersey Shore is like these Bennies from SI let you think it is cause here in NJ WE DONT PUMP OUR OWN GAS AND WE DONT FIST PUMP

Zimmer also canceled the St. Patrick's Day Parade in Hoboken this year as well. This move i can agree with though, enough of Snooki and these stupid reality shoes.

Phishie from Philly

The real truth about why Snooki and jwoww can't film in Hoboken is because the cake boss fears after they are done filming his towns name will change from Hoboken to Hoes-are-boinkin. Besides the town don't want any umppalumpas walking around after sun down.

Hoboken is actually a very nice urban town. It's like the Jersey equivalent to Brooklyn's Park Slope. It's gray- and brownstone townhouses are it's signature, as well as a lot of upscale restaurants and night clubs. The people who live there are hard-working people who've been there for generations, married professionals with families who want more space for their buck, and young professionals who can't afford Manhattan real estate but want proximity and that urban-chic feeling. Hoboken has finally gotten past it's old-school mob reputation, it doesn't need the likes of Snooki to bring cheap money and low class back.
