Whitney Houston

Few Pills Recovered

at Death Scene

2/13/2012 7:45 AM PST BY TMZ STAFF

Multiple medicine bottles were found in the Beverly Hills hotel room where Whitney Houston diedLaw enforcement sources tell TMZ ... multiple medicine bottles were found in the Beverly Hills hotel room where Whitney Houston died ... but we're told there were NOT a lot of pills at the scene.

Among the pills ... ibuprofen (painkiller), Xanax (anti-depressant), Midol (for menstrual cramps), amoxicillin (for treating bacterial infections) ... and more.

We're told the amoxicillin was prescribed recently because Whitney had been suffering from a sore throat.

We're told some of the pills were old ... some issued in 2011 ... but some of the bottles were from 2012. We're told the bottles that were recovered at the scene did not contain a lot of pills.

Sources tell us ... some of the prescriptions were filled at the infamous Mickey Fine pharmacy in Beverly Hills ... where Michael Jackson had numerous prescriptions filled for Demerol and other drugs.

Law enforcement sources tell us ... it's possible Whitney suffered a heart attack caused by an adverse reaction to her medication, but it is simply too early to make an official call on the cause of death.

We're told the L.A. Coroner's Office has removed the hold on Whitney's body ... which means her family can now have Whitney transported back to Atlanta, where the singer will be laid to rest.

TMZ you need to shut the hell up. After your report earlier this morning, the Coroner refuted it saying they had no such conversation with Family members regarding cause of death, now here we are again with your change in cause of death, cut out the speculation and wait for the correct information, its people like you that lead to the demise of these celebrities with all your negative(LIES!!!) reporting

Xanax is an anti-anxiety/sedative drug, not an anti-depressant "happy" pill.

Xanax is not an anti-depressant. TMZ--just shoot me an e-mail before you post things and I will edit them for you, ok? Constant mistakes...but I still love you.

Xanax is not an antidepressant. It is a drug for anxiety, a benzodiazepine, similar to Valium. It should not be mixed with alcohol because you can get very, very sleepy.

Xanax is not an anti-depressant. It's used for anxiety and panic disorders. And it was already stated that this also helped her with being calm before going on stage to perform. And Mickey Fine Pharmacy and Grill isn't just for filling prescriptions. It's a place to eat and shop.

TMZ....can SOMEONE on your staff please crack the binding of a PDR (physician's Desk Reference) when identifying the drug list...
Ibuprofen is NOT a pain killer...it's and NSAID....but more important, Xanax is NOT an anti depressant. It's used to treat anxiety.

The MILLIONS of Americans who do not understand or take seriously that MOST MEDICATION cannot be taken with alcohol is STUNNING. Combine this with problems caused by Alcohol Withdrawal Syndrome and you have an EPIDEMIC of accidental deaths that COULD BE AVOIDED. We need to GET THE WORD OUT about both problems. Why does this not happen? Simple. BIG PHARMA AND BIG ALCOHOL DO NOT WANT YOU TALKING ABOUT IT. Don't believe me? Check the lobbying stats. Follow the money.

whitney was an amazing inspiration for many people and is one of the greats. Her trouble with drugs and alcohol shouldnt be hidden but should be a painful reminder of the harm and pain drug and alcohol abuse brings. So it shouldnt be masked by her greatness as a singer but a reminder to those who may be lead down the unfortunate path she encountered. Whitney should be remembered for her inspiration and good nature and help prevent others lives being taken due to addiction. R.I.P whitney may god hold you now <3

This happens to so many celebrities/sports stars who after working so hard SUDDENLY have EVERYTHING they ever dreamed of thrown at them. It's hard to forgive Whitney because she had soooo many chances. I always assumed Bobby would go first. I have no sympathy for either of them - blacks starving in Africa and New Orleans and they spend $100,000 or more on drugs.Well I hope that last buzz was a good one Whitney!

TMZ: Xanax is not an antidepressant. It's a benzo--anti-anxiety, a downer. That's why, taken w/ alcohol, it's easy to die. The system shuts down. Also, it can be addictive, unlike an antidepressant.

When I finally heard the announcement that Whitney had passed, my first thought was IT WAS SUPPOSED TO BE COURTNEY LOVE! Fckit! I don't care what you all think about how "cool" CL is, but she was a *** catcher from hell, and caught some famous Cobain***...now she is is a filthy freaking bag lady and still, no talent.

Whitney was THE VOICE that no one could "do". I agree about the Bobby Brown comment, and whoever posted it, is right. He abused HER person horribly, and turned her on to his gaggle of funky drugs that will kill. Fckr can come after me, I'd go hand to hand with that coward, *****.

WH was talented, gorgeous, genuine, and had a talent that raised the bar for Xtina, Mariah and the rest and they cannot get close to that soulful, passionate sound. One more thing MEDIA people! Quit putting that Celine person in the same catagory as the above. Compare her to fingernails-Streisand...not Whitney. RIP.
