Whitney Houston's Mother

Cocaine Relapse

From Comeback Anxiety

3/22/2012 3:30 PM PDT BY TMZ STAFF

0322_cissy_houston_getty_ex

Whitney Houston's mother Cissy was shocked that her daughter was using cocaine at the time of her death but believes the relapse was triggered by anxiety over Whitney's comeback plans.

Sources very close to Cissy who have spoken with her in the last few minutes tell TMZ ... she believed her daughter was completely sober while shooting the movie "Sparkle."

But Cissy says as Whitney got closer and closer to the Grammys -- where Whitney would make her comeback move -- she fell prey to the drug.

Cissy is saying hearing that Whitney was using again is like reliving her death -- it's that painful.

TMZ has the most negative commenters I've ever seen. Everything is either about her having a bad family or being a crackhead. Leave the woman alone already, seriously. How long have you guys been waiting on these results to insult her more?

Whitney said herself in the days before her death that she was just going to live it up for a while until she went to rehab to be officially rid of her condition. She knew she was going to die, she just wanted to have fun first. R.I.P. all people can do now is judge her.

god bless cissy for her courage to speak out and say the truth about her daughters struggle with addiction issues! i can't believe the strength this woman has and is an inspiration to all. her wisdom is beyond her years as she knows the depth of character of her daughter and knew the strength she needed to face sobriety. i can't believe the coroners report. i don't want to believe it. all that this fan wants to hear is that her heart gave out because of the addiction. i'm not listening to anyone elses report. this fan knows the truth and i'm not gonna hear it any other way! whitney died of a heart attack at the age of 48. the tabloids can print what they want. i know what cnn said. she's an american hero that fell prey to addiction. this should be a lesson for all americans. now i know cissy must move on. her leadership is needed because the rest of her family needs her more than ever! good luck and god bless! xox

I don't understand how with all these powerful, professional women in this family, Cissy - famous gospel singer, Dionne Warrick - famous pop singer, and THE Aretha Franklin, that none of these experienced entertainers could have shepherded a young Whitney Houston through the perils of fame and fortune. Unbelievable.

Cissy, quit lying to the public, women up, show America what drugs can do to you. This could be a teaching moment fromyour family, but yet again, it's an excuse and everyone's fault. Shame on Whitney's family whop were with her in LA the night this happened. They knew what she was doing, the enabled her to do drugs. I hope the police find out who gave her the coke.

Houston's and Jackson families are all the same. Leeches and out of touch with their children as long as they get what they want....presuming of course. Cocaine is a stimulant not an anti anxiety drug. Seems odd her own Mother wouldn't know the effects of the drugs considering she was a long time substance abuser. In conclusion the autopsy results were none of our business....

I pray for this lady's consolation and relief from pain and grief. May the comfort of Jesus Christ be with her. I know it hurts.

The derogatory comments are as useless as you are whoever posts them. And whoever blames family or friends for someone's drug use is also useless. The only person to blame is the user and the only person who can get clean is the user. It is a horrible disease and I feel for all substance abusers, its a horrible disease and those who conquer it are truly amazing but they have to want to do it themselves. The families are enablers but most don't understand the true nature of the disease and that a real intervention is necessary but they need professional help. They cannot be blamed for being ignorant.

So sad about Whitney...my heart goes out to her family. I believe Whitney was clean for awhile around the Oprah interview era and relapsed recently apparently enough with the new reports of her death. I have heard that your body can go into shock causing you to Overdose if you were once a HEAVY user and suddenly use again after being clean for a long time. You automatically think your body can handle even the same doses you were taking before (not realizing that before you built your immune system/body up to take that large amount) so your body goes into shock causing death. My mom was an alcoholic and her doctor told her that if she were take another drink she can die from it. Alcohol poisoning, which I'm sure Cocaine & XANAX are too, POISONS. TOXINS in the blood stream... MY Heart goes out to all the addicts that are struggling with their addiction, it's no fun, a constant battle, everyday. RIP Whitney Houston, I will never judge you, you will always be an inspiration to so many of us...were just HUMAN, that's all.

Why do we even bother to read these "interviews" with Whitneys' Inner-Circle membas? They are all either in denial, are lying, are ignorant, or are painting the picture how they want it... none of which are close to reality. Whitney was neva off the drugs, she ruined her voice years ago, and her death was only a matter of time. Shame and waste of all of her gifts. Her song, "I look to you" were just words. Whitney looked to drugs and alcohol. Whitney was an Addict.
