Metta World Peace can totally school you on the difference between Memorial Day and Veterans Day -- but Labor Day is still an issue ... as evidenced by his run-in with the world's worst tutor, aka our camera guy.

You'll recall, Metta made a Memorial Day flub when he posted, "Happy Labor Day" on Twitter -- but the Lakers star has learned a lot since then, telling us... "Memorial's for guys that served and passed away." Great.

But then MWP says, "I still don't know what Labor Day is" -- and you gotta watch Metta and our camera guy work the problem. Their semi-educated guesses include honoring slaves, Mount Rushmore workers, and "people that passed away, maybe laying brick?"

For the record, according to the U.S. Dept. of Labor ... "Labor Day is a creation of the labor movement and is dedicated to the social and economic achievements of American workers."

Metta and our camera guy's definitions -- ehhhh ... kinda close.

If we walk down the street and ask 20 people what Memorial, Veterans and Labor day mean, we'd get the same kind of random incorrect answers.

if we want to get technical: "The origins of Labour Day in Canada can be traced back to December 1872 when a parade was staged in support of the Toronto Typographical Union's strike for a 58-hour work-week.[1] The Toronto Trades Assembly (TTA) called its 27 unions to demonstrate in support of the Typographical Union who had been on strike since March 25.[1] George Brown, Canadian politician and editor of the Toronto Globe hit back at his striking employees, pressing police to charge the Typographical Union with "conspiracy."[1] Although the laws criminalising union activity were outdated and had already been abolished in Great Britain, they were still on the books in Canada and police arrested 24 leaders of the Typographical Union. Labour leaders decided to call another similar demonstration on September 3 to protest the arrests. Seven unions marched in Ottawa, prompting a promise by Canadian Prime Minister Sir John A. Macdonald to repeal the "barbarous" anti-union laws.[1] Parliament passed the Trade Union Act on June 14 the following year, and soon all unions were demanding a 54-hour work-week." And the rest is history......Yay for CANADA!!!

Proof everyone should NOT votein elections just because they can...Most people have no clue on just about anything relevant.

If you want to have America continue to one day, once again prosper...

you must NOT vote for Obama again...

He is a nice, fun guy...but has no clue about running America.
