Suri Cruise

Triggered Divorce Settlement

EXCLUSIVE

Katie Holmes and Tom Cruise went from zero to nuclear war in an instant when she filed divorce papers, but it was little Suri who became the peacemaker ... sources familiar with the situation tell TMZ.

Our sources say ... a week ago Thursday, after Katie filed, the hostility between the two was palpable and Suri became a weapon. Katie wanted to strip Tom of all decision-making power in Suri's life, and Tom responded by unleashing the biggest legal guns around to fight her.

We're told what turned everything around was a series of conversations that Suri would be irreparably damaged by parental warfare. It registered big time with both Tom and Katie, and it allowed their lawyers to strike a deal in what could be record time for this type of divorce.

Fact is ... it generally takes celebs in these high-profile divorces a lot longer to realize how bitterness affects small kids, so credit to both.

What utter and complete bull****. It was obvious to anyone with two brain cells and a flashlight that Katie had the upper hand from minute one. Tom wasn't "unleashing" anything. He settled because she had him by the short hairs.

If Suri declines to join Scientology after she turns 18, will she be shunned by Tom and her half siblings?

Wondering

Would the story draw so much attention if Suri wasn't so darn cute?

Why does it seem, the way this divorce unfolded, unravelled and was concluded in two weeks, that neither of these people ever actually "loved" each other?

Katie Holmes and Tom Cruise Divorce Settlement
July 10, 2012 By Cara Harrington

We all thought we were going to witness a long, drawn out celebrity throw down in which Tom Cruise would go all Hunger Games on Katie Holmes. That isn’t going to happen as they have already reached a divorce settlement.

The settlement came as fast as the divorce announcement itself. That raises eyebrows, but the details may be even more revealing…

*Katie gets what amounts to primary physical custody. Tom gets ample amounts of custodial time with Suri.

*The conditions attached to Tom’s custodial time with Suri are very detailed.

*There is a rumor claiming that one of the stipulations requires a nanny and Katie’s bodyguard to be present during Tom’s time with Suri. TMZ states that claim is “100% false.”

*Religion is addressed in the details. One of the restrictions Katie has set is what Tom can and cannot discuss with Suri when it comes to Scientology. Until matures, he is not allowed to encourage her into his belief system.

No word on the prenup or what Katie will walk away with financially speaking. This presented itself as a long battle, but it’s surprising how fast things were settled.

Theories abound, one blind item on Blind Gossip in particular seems to have a ring of truth to it…

When the person who appears to have the power in a relationship backs down quickly in a dispute, you know that there have to be some compelling reasons why. Although all the talk up to this point has been about his involvement with a powerful group, there were actually three other reasons he settled so quickly.

Here are the three reasons: 1. His very personal relationship with a professional athlete. 2. His very personal relationship with a musician. 3. His very personal relationship with a famous actor.

She was ready and willing to expose all three relationships to get what she wanted. The scandal of having these three famous people deposed by attorneys about their sexual relationships would have destroyed all four men. So, he gave her the thing she wanted most so that his biggest secret could remain a secret.

My mind immediately comes up with Tom’s relationships with 1. David Beckham 2.Rob Thomas 3. Jeremy Renner.

Either way, lets hope whoever gave her those penis candies to chew on no longer fishes around in Tom’s underwear drawer for a snack for Suri.

Yikes, here is another one.....

I also read that Scarlett Johansen was invited to the Scientology HQ site, treated to a two-hour recruitment dissertation by Cruise, punctuated by him flinging open the doors, to see a bunch of Cult elites sitting there expecting to have dinner with her.... needless to say, she bolted - smart girl!

Tom Cruise and Matchbox Twenty’s Rob Thomas are lovers!

No doubt that anyone with an Internet connection has read about Tom Cruise being gay. According to rumor lore, he has had a long-time boyfriend in Chicago who is an Asian pilot for American Airlines. This is an accusation that Cruise and more importantly Cruise’s many attorneys vehemently deny.

There have been many stories that supposedly corroborate his sexuality but never a smoking gun. Rumor mongers attribute this to the fact that Cruise goes to great lengths to cover his tracks. We are told that everyone around him signs extensive confidentiality contracts with enormous penalties for indiscretion. (Exhibit A: the 8-page confidentiality contract Cruise’s housekeeper was forced to sign).

Such stories have been around for years and Cruise has evidently attempted to counter them with a series of high-profile heteronormative relationships. First, Nicole Kidman, then Penelope Cruz, and most recently Katie Holmes. In each instance, the “relationship” is actually a contract that gives the women a boost to their careers, a lot of money, and an elegant lifestyle.

Here is where this particular rumor gets interesting. Not long ago, Marisol, the wife of Matchbox Twenty’s Rob Thomas (who has had to contend with his own rumors of bi-sexuality) found her husband in bed with Tom Cruise causing Cruise’s people to shift into high gear.

First, Mrs. Rob Thomas was bought off for an undetermined sum.

Second, Cruise and his handlers set out to immediately find Cruise a girlfriend. Second-tier actresses were targeted. A list was drawn up with Jessica Alba (#1 pick) and three other girls who fell out for various reasons. Originally targeted (#3 I think) but later rejected as “undesirable” was rumor queen Lindsay Lohan. Way down at #5 on the list was Katie Holmes, but that was the one with whom they were able to strike a deal.

Once the contact was signed, photo ops were set up, leaks were made to the right places, and we’ve had celebrity relationship on steroids ever since.

One thing I will credit this rumor for is how it nicely explains Tom’s behavior this past few months-including the couch jumping episode on Oprah. Cruise simply didn’t have time for the Holmes rumors to circulate at its normal speed and he couldn’t allow it to be second page news while the tabloids focused on Brad, Jennifer and Angelina. No, this relationship had to immediately become the “it” topic.

Well, that’s how we hear it.

[A reminder to those of you reading this who have trouble differentiating truth from unsubstantiated rumor: at this point this is all conjecture.]

It isn't only celebs who engage in long, drawn-out, bitter custody battles which cause long-term damage to their kids.

A very interesting article by Marty Rathbun, former Scientology exec and formally Tom Cruise's counselor.
"I know the players involved, and it’s clear to me that Cruise has capitulated this time around. That’s how I read the joint statement issued Monday by Cruise and Holmes. He’s not trying to have complete control of their 6-year-old daughter, Suri, and her upbringing, though that’s certainly what he wanted...
It’s a very coded statement, especially when they say they are going to respect each other’s beliefs. That is not allowed in Scientology. He’s prohibited from respecting others’ beliefs if he’s going to raise Suri in Scientology. There’s no neutral ground.

I think Holmes was in the dominating position, and she got what she wanted in this divorce. I don’t think they would have settled in such short order if that wasn’t the case...
It happened because of the media’s laser focus on the issue of Scientology Inc. and Cruise's close relationship with Miscavige.

I personally witnessed how Miscavige inserted himself between Cruise and his first two wives, and there was every indication he had done the same with Holmes.

A contested divorce proceeding would have shined a spotlight on that and would have irreparably damaged the image of Scientology, Miscavige and Cruise.

They were called out on Scientology’s child indoctrination practices and harassment tactics over the past several days. With those weapons exposed, there was no other means available for Scientology Inc. to practice its dark arts. They couldn’t intimidate and bully Holmes any longer.
That’s why last week I publicly advised Cruise to concede primary custody of Suri to her mother. On Sunday, I published a prediction on my blog, markrathbun.wordpress.com, that Cruise and Miscavige would attempt to quickly settle with Holmes, conceding primary custody of Suri while issuing a statement that would attempt to portray a different outcome.

It appears Cruise made my prediction come to fruition."

Suri is in a good place, she will be fine. Watch Katie Holmes on Net Flix in the Kennedy's mini series it is very good. Maybe she was inspired by Jacqueline Kennedy role she played, there are similarities. Good acting!!

Yes, and amen. All divorcing couples should put their kids first. Suri is a cute and seemingly shy little girl who will perhaps stop being so terribly scutinized by the press once they've divorced. I also wanted to add that anyone who thinks Suri is the product of a surrogate or Tom's cousin, hasn't looked at this picture. I think she looks more like him than she does Katie.

“Your children have come into this world because of the two of you. Perhaps you two made lousy choices as to whom you decided to be the other parent. If so, that is your problem and your fault.

No matter what you think of the other party—or what your family thinks of the other party—these children are one-half of each of your. Remember that, because every time you tell your child what an “idiot” his father is, or what a “fool” his mother is, or how bad the absent parent is, or what terrible things that person has done, you are telling the child half of him is bad.

That is an unforgivable thing to do to a child. That is not love. That is possession. If you do that to your children, you will destroy them as surely as if you had cut them into pieces, because that is what you are doing to their emotions.

I sincerely hope that you do not do that to your children. Think more about your children and less about yourselves, and make yours a selfless kind of love, not foolish or selfish, or your children will suffer.”
