Sugar Ray Leonard says ... in his prime, he could've taken Manny Pacquiao.

It's a great theoretical match up -- here's the tale of the tape:

Sugar Ray Leonard (36-3-1)
Height -- 5 ft 10 in
Reach -- 74 in
Notable victories -- Roberto Duran, Thomas Hearns, Marvin Hagler
Fun Fact -- Served as host and mentor on "The Contender"

Manny Pacquiao (54-4-2)
Height -- 5 ft 6 in
Reach -- 67 in
Notable victories -- Oscar De La Hoya, Ricky Hatton, Shane Mosley
Fun Fact -- LOVES Karaoke.

Discuss.

It looks like he can still make a comeback. You won't see that many 50+-year-old men looking that young. He looks like he's in his early 40's.

He'd beat Pacman the same way he beat Hagler... by backing up and running away.

Personally I never could stand Ray Leonard because he was nothing more than a point slut that manipulated judges with late round furies just before the bell, but he's right. He most likely would have out-pointed Manny for 12 rounds as he refused to engage out of fear of getting ko'd.

He would have insisted on (and would have been granted) a large ring so he could run. In the end, Leonard would have won and it would have been the most boring fight in history.

Take note of this before you shell out $70 to watch Manny vs Mayweather.

I sold Sugar Ray some vitamins at a health food store back in 1992 and he looked no different than he does in this video! I say the man can do what he says he can do, he rocks!

notta

I like Manny, but you'r comparing his notables to Ray's?

De La Hoya - was his last fight
Hatton - was his last fight
Mosley - fought 1 more and then retired.

No comparison to the people that Ray beat.

Sugar Ray ... although awsome in your day; you still wouldn't have stood a chance agains Pacquiao ... unless you could stay away from him for 12 rounds. The big difference between the two of you is power. Manny has knockout power in either hand & that would be the deciding factor.

You are all dumn

Sugar would have mauled through Manny, he had the speed power skills size strength everything. How some of you think Manny would have a chance is beyond me, more Pactards I guess

Manny's power give him a great chance against SRL. If SRL got caught (as he did against Camacho), Manny in his prime would definitely have a chance to beat Leonard. Pound for pound Manny has the strongest punch, gives him a punchers chance.
