Usher's Stepson

Family Can't Afford to Keep

Him Alive Much Longer

7/15/2012 6:00 AM PDT BY TMZ STAFF
EXCLUSIVE

0710_tameka_foster_usher_raymond_article_2Usher's ex-wife -- Tameka Raymond -- will be forced to take her 11-year-old son off life-support as early as next month, TMZ has learned, all because his insurance coverage is about to expire.

Sources close to the family tell TMZ ... Tameka has not lost hope that her son, Kyle Glover, can make a drastic recovery ... despite doctors declaring him brain dead last week following a jet ski accident. We're told she is telling friends ... she still believes in miracles.

According to our sources, Tameka can only keep Kyle on life-support as long as her insurance company agrees to pay ... otherwise she doesn't have the funds to cover the enormous hospital bills.

We're told the insurance company hasn't set a specific deadline, but they've made it clear ... they're only willing to shell out coverage for a couple months ... tops.

Our sources say that Usher -- who helped raise Kyle for several years -- has been incredibly supportive in this difficult time... but has NOT offered to pay for any medical bills. We're told Tameka does not see him as a viable financial option.

As TMZ first reported, Kyle was struck in the head by a jet ski while inner tubing on Lake Lanier -- doctors declared him brain dead days later.

I feel so very sorry for these two. I couldn't imaging the pain they both feel. Someone need to explain to her that her beautiful boy is gone. And prolonging his life isn't fair to him. If she believes in God shouldn't her son be able to go with that God?

It is not his job to pay for anything just because he has the money. Where is the Father Usher is the stepfather. So I don't lay any blame at his feet.

So much for Obamacare.

Seriously, I had a bro who was in a PSV for years. It was terrible.

He has no quality of life and his soul has moved on. As hard as it is, it's better to let him go now.

Usher could afford to keep that child alive for the next decade. But is it in the best interest of this child? If he is brain dead let him rest in peace.

Doesn't anyone READ? It does say that the insurance company will pay for a couple of month-tops. Well two months will be plenty of time for any miracles to happen and it will also give Tameka time to face reality if a miracle doesn't happen. For someone declared brain dead, I think two months time is fair enough.

It is completely vile that a life depends on profit for companies. Honestly, worst thing I've heard in a long time that in 2012, people still need to pay to save their lives. SORT YOURSELVES OUT AMERICA.

The kid's mother needs to accept reality and let him rest. It is ridiculous. No miracle full brain transplant is going to come in a few months. He is BRAIN DEAD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

RIP kid.

Under the new Obamacare...there would not be a lifetime max...but I digress. The child is, for all intents and purposes, dead. Life support keeps him alive. The child needs to be put to rest. He's dead, and whoever was so careless as to run over these children, deserves some sort of punishment.

Usher has nothing to do with this. he only has to be a father to his sons. yes miracles happen everyday but the boy is brain dead there is no coming back from that. his mother needs to pull the plug he is already gone.

How sad, TMZ is using this family's tragedy to promote a political agenda. An insurance company will only pay for reasonable and necessary medical treatment. Keeping this child on life support WILL NOT change the fact...he is already dead. Only his body is being kept alive by machines. Obamacare would not afford this family, the choice, much less allow them, months to decide. A panel will determine WHEN and IF, we receive treatment. IF, Obamacare was a factor, we would already be reading the obituary.

Heartfelt prayers to the family and friends.
