Ryan Lochte

Parents Swimming in Debt, Facing Foreclosure

8/4/2012 6:30 AM PDT BY TMZ STAFF

US Olympic swimming champion Ryan Lochte might have to parlay his newfound fame into a quick payday to help out the folks ... because TMZ has learned, his parents are allegedly buried in debt ... and could lose their home.

According to a lawsuit filed in Volusia County, FL ... CitiMortgage claims Steven and Ileane Lochte took out a mortgage loan for $258,000 back in 2007 and they were to pay $1,609.58/month.

But according to the bank, the Lochtes stopped making payments in February 2011 -- and now owe $242,239 (plus interest) on the home. The bank is suing to foreclose on the house in order to get its money back.

But there's a lot on the line -- according to the lawsuit, if the sale of the Lochtes' home doesn't satisfy the couple's entire debt ... the bank wants the Lochtes to pay the difference.

Mrs. Lochte filed a motion to dismiss the case last month, but a judge has yet to rule.

Attempts to reach the Lochtes were unsuccessful.

Kinda sucks you would post this about his parents. He is at an all time high and you want to bring him down over his parents sacrifice. You are at an all time low.

I think it's terrible that we have to make this news!!!! Let this family enjoy there son's acheivments and spare them from this humiliation.. Why TMZ??? This is just trash to me.. and its hurtful to them. NOT needed and in very poor taste to print it.

Who is the parent

Truth is many Americans are facing foreclosure but why you choose to focus on them and humiliate them when they are at the proudest moment of their life in being happy for their son and his accomplishment is just LOW. Reminds me of those bashing Gabby Douglas over her hair it's like the haters got together and were like no Olympic joy for team USA and their accomplishments lets just hate on petty and insignificant things to be party poopers.

We are not, or I am not, interested in the financial situation of the parents. I am watching their son swim. I am sure the parents have made tremendous sacrifices for their son over a very long period of time. For you to bring up the financial situation of the parents is clearly not acceptable.

Let us not forget that this heinous, little, mean spirited man Harvey Levin launched TMZ by posting photos of celebrities picking up dog crap on their front lawns. We shouldn't expect human decency from him or his staff.

I'm not sure I understand why TMZ is reporting on Olympic Athletes finances. Give it a rest TMZ. You look like asses.

Classless of TMZ for this and a distraction for him. So unpatriotic also.
