Joey Kovar

'Real World' Star DEAD

Family Suspects Drugs

8/17/2012 10:20 AM PDT BY TMZ STAFF

Joey Kovar -- the troubled "Real World" star who appeared on "Celebrity Rehab" -- was found dead at a friend's home near Chicago this morning ... and family members believe drugs are to blame ... TMZ has learned.

Kovar was 29 years old.

Kovar's rep tells TMZ ... Joey was discovered by a female friend early this morning who noticed blood coming out of Joey's ears and nose.

The woman called 911 ... and authorities rushed to the scene where he was pronounced dead.

Kovar had famously battled drug issues -- and sought help for cocaine and ecstasy during his stint on "Celeb Rehab."

While on "Real World: Hollywood," Kovar entered rehab halfway through the season for alcohol and drugs, admitting he'd struggled with substance abuse for years. It was a pretty powerful moment on the show.

It sounds like Joey had it bad from birth, if his Mom was a coke head he was probably born addicted through no fault of his own. He was such a handsome man with a beautiful body but non of that means anything if your brain is messed up. I guess he took the Viagra cause the coke gives you limp dck? Another victim of this horrible reality tv, MTV is so tired we never watch it, it's all just trash shows now.

This is the sadest thing there is - a life robbed of its gift - life. Our Country is being robbed of so many bright and beautiful people through the drugs that lie to them. This young man was looking for help; my own child battled her drugs 20 years and is now 8 years recovered. Her husband, 36 yrs died from overuse of alcohol and any other drug; her step-son died at 20 from a horrific battle with drugs since age 12. They were loved very much. Some can be saved, some cannot, at least in this life; they reach out to God and can still be taken. The only relief is knowing they aren't suffering anymore.

It's not Dr. Drew's fault. I can't believe that so many of these comments are blaming him. Dr. Drew has helped more patients than he has lost. Drug addiction is a hard illness to overcome and beat.
