Michael Jackson

'This Is It' Promoters

Called Jackson a 'Mess'

9/2/2012 3:50 PM PDT BY TMZ STAFF

0717_michael_jackson_article_gettyMichael Jackson was "an emotionally paralyzed mess" who was "scared to death" leading up to his planned "This Is It" concerts in 2009, this according to newly obtained emails sent by the promoters of the show.

In the emails, obtained by the LA Times, AEG's Randy Phillips traded messages back and forth with AEG President Tim Leiweke. In one email leading up to the 2009 press conference to announce the concerts, Phillips wrote, "MJ is locked in his room drunk and despondent ... I (am) trying to sober him up."

Phillips said Jackson was "an emotionally paralyzed mess," that Jackson was "scared to death," and that Phillips and Jackson's manager had to dress him. The press conference ended up being very brief and very strange.

The emails were part of the discovery in an ongoing lawsuit between AEG and the insurance company that backed the tour ... which is suing to get the $17.5 million policy nullified.

This is a $17.5 million dollar insurance lawsuite. You think Lloyds of London is just going to pay out $17.5 mil. no questions asked. Hell no.

All the dirt that should have been able to be brought out in Dr. Murrays trail...is coming out now.

Is anyone really surprised. The man was an addict. Addicts cannot take care of themselves. All they care about is the next fix, whether it be doctor prescribed "meds" or street drugs. How he lived as long as he did is what is surprising. Why people, including his family, covered up his decline is beyond me. After his death, people who ignored him for twenty years came out of the woodwork to praise him. What a crock. Most addicts, if they don't want help, linger in a pathetic world, and eventually die. This is what happened to Michael Jackson.

Of course he was a mess. He was a mess his whole life. The promoters deal with screwed up celebs all the time & in this case, the celeb ODed before he had time to honor his contract.

I don't believe a word of it. All geniuses, creative or otherwise, could be considered 'a mess'! I mean, look at how cluttered Albert Einstein's desk was! (Or even Tina Fey (commedienne and writer/Saturday Night Live) Creative energy will keep you up all night, because your mind is always creating; choreography, musical frames, words, set design, it just doesn't stop because it's time to go to sleep!!! Especially, when you have so much to give to the world; this iconic talent, creator, and genius we lost. To top it off, he was a perfectionist; thus, you can be 'an emotional mess', because striving for perfection can produce high anxiety and non-stop creative/mental energy. I know, because I'm there, too!!!!
On top of it, just saw the "Ultimate Thriller" Michael Jackson Tribute tour at the Hard Rock Live in Hollywood, Florida Saturday night, and it was over the top!!! Some of his original choregraphers, dancers, musicians, and audio crew made this such a spectacular night, I can't wait to see it tagain! It could literally sell out every night...................

Eveyone knows he was a mess, where is the news in that?? He was a black dude trying to be white be cause he hated blackes so bad. His music over the last 2 decades of his life was also a good example of what a mess he was. Again, where is the news??

Michael Jackson basicaly had no identity nor sense of who he really was...how very very sad! This is evidenced by his bizarre looks from plastic surgery to the extreme..he did not accept himself as a black male and tried to create himself into a white female, to make sure he wasn't like his father. This last concert was only about making more money for his children and to maintain his bizarre lifestyle. He was scared to death because he didn't remember how to be the king of pop and couldn't take the downfall and criticism the concert might bring. RIP Michael. It's all about money now instead of him. Sadness in life and sadness in death for Michael Jackson. When you rise to the top as a child, there's no place to go but down.

Michael Jackson had no identity...this is evidenced by all the bizarre plastic surgery to look like a white woman. He wanted to be anybody but his father. He didn't identify with his race or gender. I think this feminine side made him a wonderful "father" to his (?) children His last concert was only about money for his children and to continue to support his bizarre lifestyle. He was scared to death because he had become so bizarre since the days as the King of Pop and simply couldn't tolerate the downfall and criticism this concert might bring. When children become stars at the top, there's no place to go but down. RIP Michael. It was all about money during his sad life and now it's all about money in his sad death.
