Clint Eastwood

Republicans Were 'Dumb'

To Ask Me to Speak at RNC

9/18/2012 11:55 AM PDT BY TMZ STAFF

Clint Eastwood
finally admitted what everyone already knew ... the GOP made a HUGE MISTAKE by hiring him to speak at the Republican National Convention -- calling Mitt Romney's people "dumb" to ask him in the first place.

Clint opened up in a recent interview with Extra's Jerry Penacoli, claiming, "If somebody’s dumb enough to ask me to go to a political convention and say something, they’re gonna have to take what they get.”

It's a pretty crazy statement ... considering Clint had previously rebuffed critics of his infamous "Invisible Obama" speech by refusing to admit the entire thing was a train wreck.

Clint insisted he was just expressing his feelings -- but now, it's pretty clear he's starting to realize the truth ... it just wasn't a good idea.

When asked if he'd do it all over again -- the 82-year-old replied, "I never look backward. It’s done and it’s done. I probably would. I wouldn’t be afraid of it."

Gee Harvey . That's a pretty twisted spin on what Clint said.

Perhaps Clint's answer would have been different if he actually remembered what he said at the convention.

Don't worry about Clint, he's all ready forgotten what he said. In a couple weeks he won't remember what party's convention he was at.

I think with the "If they are dumb enough" comment, Clint was pretty much making sure that if Romney loses, he isn't blamed. Don't worry Clint, if Romney loses it won't be your fault at all. It will be his and Ryans. For many reasons like shooting his mouth off about Libya before he knew exactly what was going on, who said what and attacking the presidents comments publicly (eventhough they were not his) at a time of crisis. Or his comment on 47% of the country, which includes Elderly and poor workers. Or we can go with experts (even experts that support him) saying his plan is mathematically impossible. Or the complete refusal to get more specific on plans. Or Ryans apparently inability to tell the truth even with the smallest of things, that don't really matter.

Nope Clint, it won't be your fault.

Hey Clint, if you think the Republican leadership made a dumb mistake by hiring you, then why would you want to support a dumb administration to lead the country? Proving that the Republican party is a bunch of brain-washed sheep. Who are you being loyal to? Certainly, you are not basing your decision on common sense. Just because the Republican party preaches basic mortality in their campaign speeches, does not mean that they, themselves, are moral. It just means they are telling you what you want to hear.

Clint's just a typical tea bagger republikan. When his lame act fell flat on its ass, he started blaming everyone and anyone else. Would we expect anything less from the party of "personal responsibility?"

Face facts folks...........after that spectacle at the RNC:

Clint Eastwood has overtaken Chris "Leave Britney Alone!!!" Crocker and is now tied with Dustin "Screech" Diamond as the most embarrassing celebrity in Hollyweird.

nice try at spinning this for the libtards, TMZ .... he was not referring to the GOP as "dumb", only YOU were.... go back to reporting on how big Kim K.'s ass is getting and leave politics to more intelligent folks. Thanks.

I'm a republican and I agree it was dumb to have you speak. Sorry Clint but you sound like a lost old man who doesn't know what he's doing. Your almost as bad as Joe Biden, who's a complete douchebag. You rambled on aimlessly pandering to a crowd of people who were going to cheer you on anyway. Preaching to the choir essentially.
