Rick Ross & Young Jeezy

Brawl at BET Awards

Shots Fired

breaking news

A fight broke out backstage at the BET Hip Hop Awards tonight between Rick Ross and Young Jeezy that resulted in shots being fired .. sources at the awards tell TMZ.

According to our sources, Ross and Jeezy exchanged words backstage and started pushing and shoving each other. We're told BET security and bodyguards for each of the rappers eventually separated the two.

Our sources on the scene say that after the fight had been broken up, a member of Rick Ross' entourage pulled out a gun while in the parking lot and shots were fired.

We're told Jeezy and Ross are still at the awards, which are being taped tonight in Atlanta and air next month.

A spokesperson for the Atlanta Police Department tells TMZ, "Shortly after 7:15 pm Saturday, a fight broke out in the parking lot at the Atlanta Civic Center (where the BET Awards were being taped) between two groups. Atlanta Police Department officers on scene responded to break up the fight and used OC spray in the process. Individuals fled the scene. There were no arrests or reports of serious injuries. Reports of shots fired appear to be untrue." Our sources maintain shots were fired.

We're also told that 50 Cent got into it with a rapper named Gunplay, a protégé of Rick Ross.

Can't we all just get along?

A rep for BET tells TMZ, "BET Networks works very hard to bring the best in entertainment to the city of Atlanta. For the past 7 years BET has celebrated the true art form of Hip Hop. Due to some misjudgment of select attendees, it is unfortunate that certain incidents took place. BET Networks does not condone any type of violence. Local authorities are working to resolve the situation as quickly as possible."

I don't discuss much about racism, my main activism for near-20 years has been father's and children's rights.
But part of that activism included researching *false* rape accusations, and *wrongful* convictions of *innocent* men for rape, and murder.
During, The Innocence Project also sprang up, an organization dedicated to helping imprisoned men who claim innocence to have access to DNA/other testing to prove innocence.
On race:
While our main focus was men's rights, not race, we also discovered that many of the men who were proven innocent...were black men.
There are many white men, Mexican men and others who have also been proven innocent.
But most of the men are black, men who were *wrongly* convicted and sent to prison.
When you read statistics that tell you more black people rape and murder, that's not true.
Those stats come from police records and court records of convictions, which as we can see are *not* a fully reliable source, since many black men have been freed from prison *after* conviction, when DNA/other proved they were indeed innocent.
As we increase activism and access to testing, we'll continue to see more men freed.
This is easily proven by visiting the website:

Zombie Whitney Houston

They were probably fighting over something stupid like who had better rims on their car or who could eat the most fried chicken and watermelon. Funny blacks!

Way to represent no less at the BET awards. I hope your colleagues shun you both and your entourage fades into the streets.

These people have fame, money and will most likely never have to worry about paying a bill again. Grow up crap bags. Be thankful for what you have and stop the fighting. Redic.

So sick of rap / hip hop people acting like morons. What cliches . . . TRYING to act 'bad'! Grow the fck up already . . . any loser can be a knucklehead, carry a 'piece', give yourself some stupid, phony nickname . . It takes character and strength to be something decent. Funny how the people who always feel the need to TRY to act tough . . . . are NOT.

What are they two years old!!! They can't settle an argument w/o guns....

Why is the first reaction to always use guns? Be a man and use your fists. Everybody always acts like they are so bad because they have a gun but don't ever want to settle things without them. Maybe that would cut down on violence if it wasn't the first reaction to pull out a gun.

Could this be a clue as to why racism still exists in this country?

What's the fight about? They need to relax and enjoy their success and quit hating on each other! There will be plenty of room in the gutter for both of them when their "so-called" career fades out and they are broke within the next 2-3 years (maybe sooner depending on how big their entourage is!)

Puts some money in the so called hoods and open a foreign language school for the children, so among other things they can at least have command of the English language, and maybe want to be something other than what you on a positive note .
