Travis Barker

10/21/2012 10:15 AM PDT BY TMZ STAFF

1019-travis-barker-getty-tattoosTravis Barker believes an LAPD officer pulled him over, and immediately labeled him a drug-toting gang member -- and says it's second time he's been "profiled" by law enforcement ... TMZ has learned.

Travis was on his way to pick up his daughter in L.A. Wednesday, when he got pulled over for not having a front license plate on his custom Chevy.

According to Barker's rep ... the officer gave him the ole once-over, saw his head-to-toe tatts ... and "then accused him of having drugs and weapons in the car."

Barker's rep tells TMZ ... he was also accused of having gang ties, and was asked to have his car searched by the officer -- which Barker allowed him to do.

Barker's rep tells TMZ , the drummer ultimately got off with a fix-it ticket -- but he's still pissed because the same exact thing happened about a year ago ... when an LAPD officer slapped him with a ticket for no plates and tinted windows.

Barker believes profiling is NOT okay -- but acknowledges that not all cops do it.

TMZ spoke with an LAPD rep who refused to comment on Travis' profiling accusation. The rep did say Travis is welcome to come in to any station to sit down and talk about the situation.

What do you expect. I would think the same thing. Tattoo's can be a regretful thing as we get older. When you are over tattooed what do you want people to think. You are no longer a teenager. Did you not thing of the future when you were laying there ****ed up getting those tattoo's. One or two can be tasteful. You just look ridiculous.

Here's a question for you son: Would any REASONABLE person think that, simply by looking at how you adorned your body with tats, that you might be a freak? There, you have your answer. Now YOU stop profiling the cops.

Well, well, well... What ignorant comments do we have here? You're all just as bad as the LAPD officer, I can see that much.

When are people gonna realize, it's nobody else's business what anyone does with their body?! Just because someone has tattoos, doesn't automatically mean they are a criminal. Everyone has a different opinion about what is nice and what isn't, if you don't like tattoos, then don't get them yourself! It's that easy. But don't judge other people for doing otherwise. Nobody has the right to assume anything about a person whether that person has tattoos or just looks different than others.
And you know, not every dealer or criminal has tattoos, there are enough people committing felonies that don't have any tattoos or other body modifications whatsoever.

I do agree with user TMP, Travis didn't ask for this to be in the media, all he said was that he gets tired of people profiling him. TMZ is the one making a huge deal out of this. Many people get pulled over daily and nobody likes it, don't give me your hollier than thou crap, with "He should've known that when he drove without a license plate blahblahblah". Like you never get a speeding or parking ticket or whatever.

Just let everyone do their thing and you do yours, whatever. Don't judge, it's so tiresome.

So he has gotten pulled over for the same thing in a year and has not fixed it and is calling it profiling? Whatever, like I get that cops do that, I have had it happen, but maybe if he drove legally he wouldnt get pulled over?

WHAT AN MORON! You got pulled over TWICE b/c you didn't have your license plates on your car you idiot! Not b/c they're profiling you. MOST PEOPLE WHO DON"T HAVE PLATES ARE DEALERS!!! ASS.

It's against the law to not have a front license plate. It's also against the law to tint your front driver side and front passenger window.

Daughter...? Well she's screwed.

This guy was pulled over for not having a front license plate last time. Another star who thinks the rules don't (and they usually don't) apply to them, then complains when he doesn't get the special treatment he's used to.

you got a ticket for the same thing a year ago. fix your car. Put the plate on the front. Bring the tinting down to a reasonable legal level. It's not profiling if you actually are breaking the law.

Then put a license plate on your car & untint your windows dude. You are driving without a plate & tinted windows both of which are illegal therefore a cop can pull you over & cite you. Duh. Not saying cops dont profile BUT you are giving them multiple reasons to pull you over. If he didnt have anything illegal (no plate, etc) and got pulled over THEN it would be profiling.
