'CSI' Star Gary Dourdan

Files For Bankruptcy

These Bills Are Killing Me!

11/12/2012 1:00 PM PST BY TMZ STAFF

On this episode of "TMZ: Bankruptcy Scene Investigators" ... former "CSI" star Gary Dourdan throws in the towel and files for Chapter 11.

The troubled actor filed papers on August 30th -- and according to the docs, has a little over $1.8 mil in assets ... but is in the hole to his creditors to the tune of $1.73 mil.

A large chunk of that debt -- $1,689,704 million -- is owed to various banks, including Union Bank, which apparently holds the mortgage on his home that may be in default.

As for his assets -- $200 cash, $3k in a bank account, $4k in furniture, $200 worth of books, $1,500 in clothes, $500 in watches ... oh and a 2006 Dodge Charger worth $7,000.

Here's the kicker ... Gary says his disposable income is only $321 a month ... claiming his bills ($14,562 a month) eat up just about all of the $14,883 he pulls in on average.

The good news ... the actor says he "anticipates major acting roles" in the future ... which can help pay off his debt.

The end.

The bills that are killing him are paying for his drug habit.

I have no sympathy for someone who claims bankruptcy when they make over $14,000 per month. My family lives happily on $5000 per month. We just know our limits and don't incur any long term debt.

He is just another example of what has become of this country. Greed runs everything and destroys everything.

The funny thing is it's our fault. We enable these bozos by watching the shows in the first place.

He doesn't even have enough money for an apartment in Brooklyn. You need money for first month's rent, security, and last month's rent, plus the agent's commission, worth one month's rent. That's like $5,60...0 in cash you need right there. I have a better shot at getting an apartment in a building in Brooklyn than this actor, and I'm just a regular guy. Plus since he filed for bankruptcy, he won't be able to get an apartment cause it'll pop up on his credit report and agents don't rent to bankrupted people. He'd better hold on to that house of his.

Maybe he should move in with Erin Moran

Wish he hadn't spent so much on drugs, then he would still be on the show and he would have money to pay his bills....what a shame, he was well liked by us

In the meantime, write a book outlining the scandals of CSI.

Why would anyone feel sorry for this piece of crap, he spent all his money on nose candy, and now he wants to file bankruptcy.

You stars make me sick... You start with nothing and make millions then blow it on drugs instead of paying your bills and now you think its okay to go bankrupt.. Its a good thing Obama is in, your fitting right into his thought of what society should be, worthless peices of **** that soak off the system and rely on the government to live. This country is heading in the direction for a large pity party... You can't pay for the materialistic crap you buy in cash, then you can't afford it... PERIOD!!!
