Heroin Charges Dropped

Jon Bon Jovi
's daughter will not face criminal prosecution after allegedly overdosing on heroin in a college dorm yesterday -- because the D.A. has dropped all charges.

A rep for the Oneida County District Attorney's Office says it is dismissing all criminal charges against Jon's 19-year-old daughter Stephanie Bongiovi as well as the 21-year-old male student allegedly involved with Stephanie's overdose.

TMZ broke the story ... Stephanie was arrested after being treated by emergency medical personnel following the alleged overdose at a Hamilton College dormitory. Cops claim a drug task force found small quantities of heroin in the dorm room ... along with marijuana and drug paraphernalia.

Stephanie was arrested for possession of a controlled substance, possession of marijuana and criminally using drug paraphernalia. The 21-year-old was also charged with drug possession.

The D.A. says the charges were dropped because of a New York law that specifically prohibits prosecution of people experiencing a drug overdose -- as well as the people who help them seek medical care.

I am not surprised. It's because of the name Bonjovie that she is getting off. If this were a poor kid, they would have thrown the book at him or her. When I first heard about it, I said to my friends. Nothing will be done to her. The rich can afford to get their kids off instead of them suffering the consequences of bad behavior.

People be nice. it could be anyone's kid at any time. As a parent, it has to be horrifing and heartbreaking. He is human like everyone else and deserves to be treated that way. It has nothing to do with how big a star he is. It happens everywhere, everyday to normal people. it is a shame when it happens to anyone.

Did it not state that New York law is why she and the other kid are not being charged? I really dont think it has anything to do with him or his money! By the way people thos is a young girl, it could be your daughter, niece, cousin best friend, come on lets worry bout the fact she could have died she needs help, not bs comments about her daddies money and fame!!!

No, this law is to protect these herion addicts from dying. Chances are whoever they're using with is more concerned for themselves and not the person overdosing. Users tend to be very selfish. So you can be overdosing and the person youre with will not call for help for fear of getting arrested.
