Donating $500K in Guilt

Money to Nurse's Family

breaking news

1211_2day_memorial_fund_Artice_2The Australian radio station responsible for the prank phone call that led to British nurse Jacintha Saldanha's suicide ... is planning to give her family about half a million bucks.

The corporation that owns 2DayFM announced it will donate all the station's advertising profits for the rest of the year to a fund set up to support Saldanha's 2 teenage children and husband.

The company estimates the total donation will be around 320,000 British pounds ... or roughly $500,000.

2DayFM's generous donation comes the day after it pulled the plug on the show that placed the prank call to Kate Middleton's hospital room ... with one of its DJs pretending to be Queen Elizabeth.

Saldanha transferred the call to Kate's room, and was found dead near the hospital a few days later.

I think the least they can do is contribute something to her child's upbringing.

The police and courts are just as stupid as the perpetrators. All of them should be charged wirh dereliction of duty (police dept) and the 2 announcers charged with murder: causing death, at least with manslaughter in the first degree. Not much difference between driving and killing someone while intoxicated. A good 10 yrs behind bars should straighten their sense of humour quite a bit.

The nurse who died after a hoax call to a hospital treating the Duchess of Cambridge was found hanging, Sky sources say. Jacintha Saldanha was still alive when she was discovered on Friday morning in her room at staff accommodation near the hospital. "Whoever had discovered her first had cut her down," said Sky's Martin Brunt. "By the time police and paramedics had arrived she was still conscious and attempts were made to revive her. "If it adds anything to this very tragic story it indicates a very determined bid to kill herself, rather than what some people describe as a cry for help. "I also understand ... that a suicide note was left in which she, we believe, gave some explanation for the actions that she's thought to have taken."

Royal hoax nurse Jacintha Saldanha was found hanged in her flat, it was reported today. The mum-of-two was found dead three days after being fooled by a prank call from two Australian DJs during Kate Middleton’s stay at King Edward VII Hospital in Marylebone, Central London. The 46-year-old was staying in a block of nurses' flats close to the hospital where she worked. Her husband, Benedict Barboza, desperately tried to track her down in the hours before her suicide. Mr Barboza had not heard from his wife for two days so phoned one of her friends to check on her. A family source says the pal called at Jacintha’s flat at around 9.30pm on Thursday.

But the source added Benedict, 49, did not hear anything back from the friend – one of the tragic mum’s fellow nurses – and Jacintha was found dead at 9.25am the next day.
