Chris Dorner

$1 Million Reward ...

Big Loophole

2/13/2013 10:25 AM PST BY TMZ STAFF

Several private citizens were instrumental in cornering cop killer Christopher Dorner ... but there may be a gigantic loophole preventing any of them from collecting the loot.

There are 3 rewards.  The Mayor of L.A. announced a $1 million reward -- funded by private groups -- for information leading to the "capture and conviction" of Dorner.  Big problem -- technically speaking, Dorner must be both captured AND convicted to trigger the reward.

The L.A. City Council offered a $100,000 reward for information leading to "the identification, apprehension, and conviction" of Dorner.  Again ... no conviction.   City Council sources tell us there's already a disagreement between the Legislative Analyst and the City Attorney over how to interpret the reward language.

And finally ... the L.A. County Board of Supervisors offered a $100,000 reward for information "leading to the capture of Christopher Dorner."  One source at the Board of Supervisors tells TMZ,  "Dorner was cornered but not captured."

Translation ... technically speaking, no one may be entitled to the reward.  It's unclear if the Mayor, the City Council and the Board of Supervisors will bend the rules.

The first two make sense. He needed to be "Convicted". Can't "convict" a dead man, regardless of the cir***stances.

But cornered but not captured? Are you serious? Last I heard, he is a lump of carbon material in a coroner's office. Cornered means you have him blocked but not in custody. Captured means you have him. Unless he is going to get off the table and walk away, I'd say he is captured.

People, read the so called "REWARD" all 3 state for the arrest/capture/apprehension AND conviction! Come on everybody knows that guy WAS NOT gonna be taken alive, so all 3 rewards actually are not qualifications to be received, no arrest, no apprehension, and no capture, thus NO conviction. HOWEVER, I do feel that the 3 people, who informed the police of his wherabouts should get some monetary reward, just not the amount originally made.

yup of course so next time **** happens like this no one will call in because people want to play word games

Then why not make the reward 100million. "They" knew that he was not going to be caught without a confrontation. Dorner was not going to get caught alive. Give these people their reward. They have his body so technically he was captured, just not captured alive. ****ing loopholes.

Of course no rewards, People look at what it states: arrest, apprehension, capture, and also states conviction! Come on Everybody knew Dorner wasnt gonna be captured, or any of the others, he was a dead man no matter who/what, thus nothing would qualify for the reward! HOWEVER, I do believe there should be some kind of monetary reward given to the 3 people who were so instrumental in leading the police to his location.
