Chris Dorner

$1 Million Reward ...

Big Loophole

EXCLUSIVE

Several private citizens were instrumental in cornering cop killer Christopher Dorner ... but there may be a gigantic loophole preventing any of them from collecting the loot.

There are 3 rewards.  The Mayor of L.A. announced a $1 million reward -- funded by private groups -- for information leading to the "capture and conviction" of Dorner.  Big problem -- technically speaking, Dorner must be both captured AND convicted to trigger the reward.

The L.A. City Council offered a $100,000 reward for information leading to "the identification, apprehension, and conviction" of Dorner.  Again ... no conviction.   City Council sources tell us there's already a disagreement between the Legislative Analyst and the City Attorney over how to interpret the reward language.

And finally ... the L.A. County Board of Supervisors offered a $100,000 reward for information "leading to the capture of Christopher Dorner."  One source at the Board of Supervisors tells TMZ,  "Dorner was cornered but not captured."

Translation ... technically speaking, no one may be entitled to the reward.  It's unclear if the Mayor, the City Council and the Board of Supervisors will bend the rules.

of course there is no reward. to me that would be obvious since he wasn't captured and convicted. Give the reward money to the families of his victims.

This is why people do not want to get involved. They are lied too all the time by these people offering rewards and then creating loopholes so they do not have to pay. Reminds me of car insurance and their scams when it comes to pay outs. PATHETIC

This is why people nut up and start killing. If you don't stop messing with people, someone else is going to snap and start killing. The money was offered; pay it.

I do not, at all, condone his actions. He was sick and did one of the worst things imaginable.

That being said - isn't it extremely ironic? These people are being sneaky. They better give the money to the parties who helped capture this guy!

What do you expect. The state of California is broke and they offer a million dollar award knowing that he stated he would not be taken alive.

It just goes to show ya....You can't trust politicians (City, State or Government)-The One Million dollar nor the One Hundred Thousand dollar rewards were never meant to be handed out-No matter how it ended for Dorner. It was just all a con to get ordinary civilians to do what law enforcement was incapable of doing. Locating Dorner's whereabouts for the kill....

Why do they bother putting up these rewards? Basically, they are asking people to put themselves at risk knowing that they most likely will never collect. Most cases are resolved by people who are not allowed to accept the reward anyway so it's just a big ploy to create the illusion of doing something. The guy who killed Bin Laden didn't get a dime of the multi-million dollar reward because he was military and had loads of help through intel. Cut out the stupid rewards.
