Michael Jordan

Alleged Love Child

BEGGED His Mom to Sue!

3/2/2013 9:38 AM PST BY TMZ STAFF
EXCLUSIVE

0302-michael-jordan-tmz-tajMichael Jordan's alleged baby mama never planned to file a paternity suit against the NBA legend -- until her son pleaded with her to make his famous (alleged) dad step up to the plate ... TMZ has learned.

As TMZ first reported, Pamela Smith is suing Michael for paternity and child support, claiming Jordan knocked her up back in 1995, while he was still married to Juanita Vanoy.

Sources close to Smith tell TMZ that she's always had a good relationship with Michael and doesn't need the money to support herself. But we're told her son -- Grant Reynolds (a.k.a Taj) -- desperately wants MJ to acknowledge him as his son, so HE begged his mom to file the docs.

We're told Pamela's intention was never to "call Michael out" -- the lawsuit is simply so her 16-year-old son can have his real (alleged) father be a bigger part of his life.

In fact, we're told Michael and Grant have met a few times over the years and Pamela claims Michael has given the family money and gifts here and there ... but Grant always had to keep it a secret.

Calls to MJ's rep were not returned.

I don't see how filing a paternity suit is going to increase his time with daddy. You can't force someone to be a part of your life if they don't want to be. Kid obviously wants a piece of the Jordan pie and the cache of daddy's name. Call it what it is kid, love of money not love of daddy.

By my math the kid is 18 years old. If the baby's momma claims she had such a great relationship with Mike then why does she now feel the need to sue after all those years? Let the kid sue if he thinks he deserves a wad of cash.

If she was knocked up in 1995 how can the kid be 16? Did she have a two year gestation period? WTF?

I absolutely do not fault this kid. He's a 16 year old that wants to be acknowledged by his legendary dad. It's totally understandable.

Put yourself in his shoes, who wants to be kept a secret ...not fair. If Michael is the father he should treat him the same as his other children.

This young man is entitled to support financial and otherwise as much as his other children. Nothing wrong with laying claim to something he is legally and morally entitled to.

It's not the kid's fault . So sick of athletes fathering kids all over the place and not taking responsibility. He should be called out (if he is in far the father)

If he was born in 1995, he would be 17 or 18, not 16. Way to check the facts, TMZ.

No, I live in Atlanta. This kid is not crazy but makes himself appear crazy. He lives off the reputation that MJ is his father. In fact, the only reason he is doing all of that is because MJ is his father. If it were another man it'd be a different story. Taj, you can't make a man do something his heart isn't in. Sure, he'll give your moms money. Sure, people will know you're his son. But he will never be there for you like he is with his other kids because your mom was a jumpoff. Sorry.

If he really wanted his dad in his life, he should have done this privately.

I got news for this kid, he might be able to get some cash from Michael, but he will never be able to force Michael to be a father to him.
