Brad Lesley
-- who fashioned a sports-movie career out of a few seasons in Major League bullpens -- died of a heart attack ... NOT kidney failure, as previously believed ... according to the death certificate obtained by TMZ.

Leslie was 54 when he died in a Marina Del Rey hospital April 29, as TMZ first reported. His ex-wife said he'd been in a nursing home for months due to kidney problems that required dialysis ... and that he died of kidney failure.

But the death certificate says it was cardiac arrest that got him ... brought on by a case of coronary artery disease ... and he never had surgery for it.

Lesley spent 1982 to 1985 as a relief pitcher for the Cincinnati Reds and Milwaukee Brewers ... in the '90s, the native Californian appeared in "Mr. Baseball" and "Little Big League."

EVERYBODY dies of Cardiac Arrest. CA means the heart stopped beating. There is always an underlying cause either Cancer, old age,HEART ATTACK,etc. So did he have a heart attack, or is TMZ stupid, and calling Cardiac Arrest a heart attack?

Cardiac arrest means you died. The heart obviously stops in the process of dying. If he did have coronary artery disease did he need a bypass? Kidney failure can lead to all of this as well.

just fyi.. my mom's death certificate.. the dr lied. He never saw her or why she died and on normal people they don't do autoposies. It's disgusting

He finally realized he played for the Reds and the remorse was too much for his heart.

Chances are, he died from the hidden toxic side effects of a dialysis drug. When in doubt, Docs will blame the patient instead of death by treatment.
