James Holmes

Victims Families Outraged

Apt. On the Market

12/30/2013 12:50 AM PST BY TMZ STAFF

1228-james-holmes-aurora-getty Victims of James Holmes' murderous rampage are anguished and angry that the apartment he turned into a death trap is being rented again.

We spoke with a number of families after breaking the story that the apartment -- which Holmes booby trapped with 30 grenades and 10 gallons of gasoline with the intent of killing cops -- is on the market, and they feel victimized again and disrespected.

Bill Hoover -- whose grandson A.J. Boik was gunned down by the Aurora shooter -- says, "The place should be burned down or bulldozed."

The landlord is asking $850 a month, boasting the 650 square foot 1 bedroom/1 bathroom unit is completely renovated and furnished.  There's no mention about the previous tenant.

Hoover adds, "He [Holmes] is the epitome of evil and what went on in that building was horrendous ... I don't think anyone would want to stay there if they knew the evil acts that were done."

A member of another victim's family says, "There needs to be a sign saying a worthless killer lived here."

Still, we gotta ask ...

It's ridiculous to expect the owner of the property to never rent it again. What Holmes did was, in NO way, his fault - and he deserves to make a profit from his rental property.
How, in ANY way, does this 'victimize' the families of Holmes' victims? It doesn't.

If the families of the victims want the place torn down, they can always BUY the place and then burn it down.
Expecting the current owner to just destroy the building & take a loss is ridiculous. As is going nuts over him renting the apartment. If they want to pay him $850/month to NOT rent the place, then that's what they should do!

What about Boston Marathon Bombers. Should the small house one was living in and the university dorm room the other was living in be torn down? Of course not. Bad people who do bad things live all over the country. BUT - if a horrific act is committed IN the residence, I'm all for it's destruction.

The theater where he actually killed people is reopened. Why shouldn't the apartment be rented out? Did these people cry because the theater is making money? Get over it.

People are ridiculous. It's a perfectly fine piece of real estate, so what if it temporarily housed a mass murderer? Adds "character", doesn't it?

The apartment should be burned down? That's what James Holmes tried to do! Yet you fault him for trying to do something you yourself want to do?
