New Balance

Suing Karl Lagerfeld ...

For Being Sneaky

EXCLUSIVE

New Balance Suing Karl Lagerfeld
New Balance is waging a sneaker war against one of the most iconic names in high fashion ... claiming Karl Lagerfeld ripped off its trademark sneaker for his new shoes.

According to a new lawsuit -- obtained by TMZ -- New Balance claims Lagerfeld is using a block capital letter "K" on an otherwise identical shoe design.  NB claims this creates confusion.

The sneaker company points out it's been using this design since the '70s, noting even fashion blogs have seen the similarity ... one with an article titled, "Wait did Karl Lagerfeld just knock off New Balance sneakers?"

New Balance wants to stop Karl in his tracks.

And people will still pay $9840 for the ripoff just because it's some fruitcake fashion designer like Kanye

BS. The only real similarity is the use of an upper case initial on the side. Is that copyrighted?

While I may not be part of the "fashion elite" I can certainly tell the difference between an "N" and a "K". The two shoes really don't look anything alike, aside from both being a sneaker.

Skechers use a big "S" on the side of many of their runners, too. They going to sue as well?

Wow ...

What BS. The only think they have in common is the color and they are sneakers. Sorry NB, you don't have the market on either of them.

They are both black/white color schemes and use an uppercase letter on the side; other than that they are completely different style and material wise. From the use of meshing on the top of the foot/toe to the vinyl/leather across the back, as well as the differentiating blocking of fabric across the entirety of the shoe...they are different. Sorry people but you can't copyright average.

Does anyone actually buy New Balance sneakers anyways? They're the bottom of the sneaker barrel and certainly don't attract the same buyers as Lagerfeld.

Just My Opinion

WTF? Since when can one person put their letter of their name on their shoe, but another person can't? it isn't like they slapped a frickin N on it. the shoe don't even come close to the style of it either. Money..money..MONEY.
Get off your high horse money machine, guys. This is as stupid as someone having the same team letter , and suing some other team that put the same letter on their team's shirt. It is one letter, and in this case not the same letter, or the same name.
