Robin Williams

In Rehab Facility

To Maintain Sobriety

Robin Williams Rehab
Robin Williams
is at a rehab facility again ...but his people tell TMZ it's NOT because he fell off the wagon.

Williams is at Hazelden Addiction Treatment Center near Lindstrom, Minnesota.

Robin is in a part of the facility called The Lodge -- there are lots of fancy descriptions, but it's essentially a program to maintain long-term sobriety.

We're told Robin will be staying for several weeks.

The pic (above) was taken Sunday at a Dairy Queen ... walking distance from Hazelden.

Robin has struggled with addiction for decades.  He cold turkeyed cocaine and alcohol in the early 1980s and was sober for 20 years ... then fell off the wagon.  He went to rehab in 2006.

Robin's rep tells TMZ, "After working back-to-back projects, Robin is simply taking the opportunity to fine-tune and focus on his continued commitment, of which he remains extremely proud."

Come on, let's be real. They canceled his lousy series, a poor attempt at a comeback, and now he's in rehab. The only commitment he has is to poor attempts at comedy.

The man's a GENIUS. With a mind like his in a world such as it presently is, there is no wonder that he's battling with depression and dependency. Best wishes, Robin, on your journey. Giftedness is not always a blessing.

He has lost a lot of weight. You can tell that his addictions have kicked his ass. Hope he gets well.

He was never funny, he was just high. Now he's about to have a breakdown cuz he's realizing we don't like him. And he can't take that.

I live in Lindstrom and I've been to hazelden, people need to stop assuming things, hazelden alumni have access to something called "the lodge", which is a program for people who want to strengthen their sobriety and learn more about the 12 steps. If he was in inpatient he wouldn't be able to leave...

The Lodge is not the rehab part of the Hazelden, it is simply a place to go and regroup or stay active in your sobriety. If he had fallen off the wagon, he would not be at this place. And DQ is definitely not walking distance from Hazelden....LOL.

I don't know what the hell is wrong with most of you. He is an amazing man that has brought us so many laughs over the years along with many other outstanding roles on screen. Everyone makes mistakes and he is doing what he can to not make the same mistake twice.
