Katy Perry SuedKaty Perry Stole Black Horse

Katy Perry
blatantly stole a song from a Christian hip-hop singer and then tarnished it with witchcraft, paganism and black magic ... at least that's the claim in a new lawsuit.

According to the suit -- obtained by TMZ -- Perry's hit song "Dark Horse" is a rip-off of an award-winning Christian gospel song called "Joyful Noise" ... that was released 5 years before Perry's track.

The suit was filed by an artist known as Flame -- along with other singers. They say Perry not only hijacked their religious music ... she also destroyed their reputation in the Christian music world ... because they're now associated with the anti-Christian witchcraft and imagery that appears in the "Dark Horse" music video.

They're suing for damages ... and want Perry to stop using any form of their music ... stat.

So we gotta ask ...

The background music is very similar but that's it. Katy started out singing Christian music so she might have been familiar with the other song. She may have drawn on that memory when writing this one.

That song doesn't sound anything close to Katy's song in my opinion. Katy doesn't have to steal from other artists she's a pretty good songwriter.

She's co-written most if not all of her songs. She's co-written songs for other artists as well. She's a bit like Taylor Swift. I bet both of them have written maybe 400-500 songs. You get good at it after you write enough of them. It's just like any other skill. Every now and then you come up with a really good one and it becomes a smash hit.

Katy has had about ELEVEN "Hot 100" #1 hits. She's a real deal mega star who knows what she's doing ... singing, playing guitar, playing keyboards, writing songs, etc.

She has co-writers and producers like everyone else though. She doesn't play every instrument on her albums. Only a few artists can do that.

So the initial tune sounds similar. It happens in music. The rest is NOT AT ALL ALIKE. Drama queens just trying to get their music out their as usual.

Flame's DJ did a song comparison, if you can't hear it, you will be able to now. https://soundcloud.com/rapzilla/flame-joyful-noise-katy-perry-dark-horse-song-comparison/s-lfuXn#t=1:26

I will say, I am a Christian. I love Lecrae and Flame. Very talented artists, but honestly, I don't think they sound the same AT ALL. It's stupid cir***stances like this that make people believe that all Christians are jerks and only think about themselves when, in all reality, being a Christian is not about US, it's about CHRIST. If it wasn't about Christ, than the word "Christ" wouldn't be in the term "Christian".

It's ignorance and stupidity that things like this even occur.

Different key, tempo, and melody. Katy is singing, the other clown is talking. This Christian clown is doing nothing more than looking for attention and sales.
