David Foster

Whitney Houston Had Bad DNA

8/18/2014 9:15 AM PDT BY TMZ STAFF
EXCLUSIVE

081814_david_foster_launch
Mega-music producer David Foster says Whitney Houston's deteriorating voice was not the result of drug abuse ... she was just saddled with bad DNA.

Foster knew Whitney's highs and lows better than most.  He produced some of her tracks from "The Bodyguard," including "I Will Always Love You."

Foster is almost shockingly candid in the video ... in so many words saying she didn't have much of a voice for most of her career.

What's really interesting ... he seems to think, when it comes to vocal ability, substance abuse takes a back seat to genetics.

I know what he means, though. Some people can still sing and hit the notes when they get older and some just can't and don't even sound good on what they can sing.

Like many artists, without modern studio technique, they are quite ordinary. Whitney was massively over hyped, her whole career.

Genetics? Bad DNA? Please go on youtube and search for videos of her 80-year-old mom singing in church recently.

That's NOT what he said...once again TMZ. ..he said some people can basically use drugs and their voice holds up and some can't. It wasn't she had bad DNA, it was from smoking crack....call it like it really is. I hate news stories like this because not everyone listens to the video they just read the article. Shame on you Harvey letting half lies put out there...

Just another Hollywood insider trying to downplay drug abuse among the rich and famous. I don't care how many hokey songs he has written, David Foster's credibility is a big, fat zero. RIP Whitney.

Plus, David Foster looks and sounds like he belongs to the "DUCK BUTTER" club. Right along with dead pedophile Michael Jackson, and God only knows how many other Hollywood heavy hitters.

Lying azz Tmz. When did a humams dna get categorize as good or bad based on the sound of their voice and how well they could control it. What a bunch of trolls.

Drugs certainly played a role, but Foster's right about deterioration being a natural course for vocal ability. I wouldn't necessarily call it genetics, but the aging process. As you get older, your voice does change and, without continued practice/exercise, you can lose volume, steadiness and range. Some loss is inevitable but can be minimized.
