EXCLUSIVE

082114_david_spade_launchDavid Spade didn't do the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge (and donate a whopping $100,000) to be funny or cool, he did it because he lost a family member to the terrible disease.

Spade was at Nobu Wednesday night where he told our photog why it was so important to him. He said he hopes all this fundraising leads to a cure so no one has to go through what he's witnessed first hand.

So far, the challenge has raised an incredible $41.8 million.

Yay David Spade! Thank you for donating such a hefty sum to ALS. Anyone who has had a loved one go through ALS knows what a nightmare it is and it is a definite death sentence with no chance of cure or slowing it down. Yet...maybe this challenge will provide the funds to cure this disease.

So he donated 100k. Did you know that only 7% of that will go to research?

I totally get what David Spade is saying. I just lost my very best friend to ALS and I telling you nobody should have to go through what my friend did. What a horrible disease. It strips everything from you rapidly and leaves you a shell of the person you used to be. Please, please, please donate money to ALS. Good for you David!
