With a war raging back in England over his team's disappointing performance in Euro 2012, soccer stud Wayne Rooney has escaped to L.A. with his scorching hot wife.

Wayne and Coleen Rooney went on a quiet date to BOA Steakhouse in Hollywood last night ... and despite the fact he's estimated to make more than $14 MILLION per year ... the couple didn't leave in a limo ... or a private car ... they left in a plain old, regular taxi cab.
