Snoop's Wife -- 'Shocked' Son Quit UCLA Football ... 'Came Out of the Blue'

Snoop Dogg's wife Shante Broadus tells TMZ Sports she was blindsided by Cordell Broadus' decision to quit the UCLA football team ... and says she really hopes he plays again.

Shante was at LAX when she explained that her son's decision came "out of the blue" -- especially since he was one of the top recruited WRs in the country and was expected become a huge football star.

But Mrs. Dogg is adamant that she still supports her son as he pursues his new passion -- to make it as a producer and as an actor in Hollywood.

"That's my son and I'm supporting him no matter what."

As for Cordell's future -- make sure you watch the end of the clip when Shante says she would love to see him get back on the field again -- but notes, "It's his choice."
