Manny Pacquiao -- Beefs Up Security After Terror Threat ... 'I Had No Idea'

Manny Pacquiao says he had NO IDEA he was targeted in an alleged terror plot until the Filipino president announced it publicly ... but now, he's taken serious measures to keep his family safe.

As we previously reported, President Benigno Aquino III announced the Abu Sayyaf terror group had planned to abduct Pacquiao and his children.

Pacquiao reportedly spoke about the situation at his home Wednesday night -- "I was alarmed when he announced the Abu Sayyaf wanted to kidnap me. I'm surprised because all Filipinos are my friends. I love them, especially the Muslims."

"We asked for security, protection for my kids, my family to make sure they are safe."

Manny -- a politician in the Philippines -- also took a shot at the president for not informing him about the plot before going public.
