It was just a matter of time before Mel Gibson got to shove it in Hollywood's collective face ... according to Mickey Rourke.
Mickey was leaving Prime Cutts in L.A. (a carnivore's delight, btw) when we asked him about Mel getting a standing O for "Hacksaw Ridge" ... the new military flick he directed.
Rourke was not at all shocked, and says Gibson's just joining a list of talented guys Hollywood tried like hell to crush, but ultimately had to welcome back to the fold for one reason.
Check out Mickey's take, and also the trailer -- which is really interesting because Mel didn't put his own name in it. He's clearly aware he's made enemies.
