Marlins Pitcher Jose Fernandez Dead After Boating Accident
Miami Marlins pitcher, Jose Fernandez, was killed after the boat he was riding slammed into a jetty.
Coast Guards found Fernandez' body along with two others early Sunday morning near Miami Beach near the 32-foot vessel, which was overturned.
Two of the bodies were found floating on top of the water, and one was submerged.
The Marlins released a statement saying, "The Miami Marlins organization is devastated by the tragic loss of Jose Fernandez. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family at a very difficult time."
Their Sunday afternoon game against the Atlanta Braves has been canceled out of respect.

Fernandez was born in Cuba and tried 3 times to defect to the U.S. ... he was caught twice and served prison time. He also saved his mother's life after she fell out of the boat during one attempt.
Fernandez successfully defected in 2008. He was named the NL's Rookie of the Year in 2013.
He was 24.
