Spelling Mansion

Secretly On the Market

7/5/2006 2:52 PM PDT BY TMZ STAFF

TMZ has learned that Candy Spelling, Aaron's widow, has quietly put the Spellings' legendary mansion on the market for $150 million.

Sources in the real estate industry say Westside Estate Agency (WEA) has a pocket listing on the 56,000 square foot estate, meaning it is quietly being shopped among realtors and select buyers. The mansion, located in the exclusive Holmby Hills area of L.A., was completed in 1991 for around $47 million, which includes $10 million for the land.

One real estate source says Candy Spelling has let a lot of people on the staff go and that the buzz is that she is going to shut the house down so it can be shown by realtors. Aaron Spelling died on June 23.

Therese (post #92) & the other weak kneed jealous liberals posting here, who are you to impose what you think is morally right or wrong on others? Just because someone makes good decisions and makes a dump truck load of money doesn't mean the owe others a "fair share". Socialism & communism has failed and will continue to fail across the planet. Why are liberals so intent on destroying America? Would it be nice to see her help out a charity or 2? In my own personal opinion, sure, but it is solely up to her and she shouldn't be judge one way or the other on whatever decision she makes. Personally, I think the only charities for people that should be allowed should be the ones that offer short term help - pick someone up, dust them off, and send them on their way. Not the charities that continue to perpetuate the entitlement mentality. Be responsible for your own life & the lives you bring into the world! Oh, and as for Bill & Linda Gates, yes they are doing very good things with their foundation..now, but how come people have stopped talking about the business tactics that made the Gates' worth 40+ billion dollars? He is not a nice businessman; an effective one, yes, not nice. He inflicted his fair share of pain on others to get where he is. So don't let him buy his way back into your hearts that easily.
Be safe everyone!

Obscene profit? Give to homeless? Right. That would contribute to the further dilution of our national gene pool. It is shallow enough already with out all those feel good liberal policies. If liberals think that mansion is too lavish and will sell for too much (probably less than asking price by far) they should stop watching all that junk TV for a change. Read a book! Learn some facts! Learn just why all this global warming stuff is a lemming-like march to glorify ignorance.

Also, I'm getting really annoyed with everyone shouting "STUPID LIBERALS ITS HER MONEY!!!" Where do you get off labeling people like that? You have no clue as to ones political leanings by a short post. This isn't about liberal versus conservative, it's about rational versus stupid. I'm as liberal as they come and think she has every right to sell that house and do whatever she wants with the money.

Also, I think you've missed the idea and ideals of liberals if thats all you think of them. Turn off Fox News for a minutes and actually spend time learning about liberal ideals and values from someone who's not so biased and jaded. Liberals don't hate the rich, its just often there is an issue with fair play when it comes to taxes and rights. Be rich, be filthy rich all you want, just don't make others suffer for it and pay your dues like everyone else in life.

Don't go talking about the rich and their taxes You don't want to go there. I suggest you get to know the truth about how much the rich pay in taxes. Do some serious investigating and you'll learn a thing or two.

I'm available to the new widow if she needs someone to help her get thru this ordeal. Hey, I'm no commie but nobody needs that kind of house; and I'm sure it's just the tip of the iceberg. These people are called "limousine liberals". The Hollywood types are the worst. John Kerry and Ted Kennedy are other shining examples.

How do people justify such gawdy "hey, look how special I am" monuments to themselves? Poor Mr. Spelling, my only prayer is that he accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Saviour prior to his demise.

If anyone is interested, at today's best rate a 30 year fixed rate mortgage on this place will cost you $963,940.40 per month. If you are savvy enough to get a 15 year fixed rate mortgage, the payment will be $1,319,890.82 per month. Of course, taxes and insurance will be extra. If you are a first time buyer, don't even ask me about the Primary Mortgage Insurance.

What a bunch of winers. Who cares what they have? I bet they have donated to and raised more for charity that all of you will make in your lifetime. Why are you so envious of their success? What does it have to do with you? There are and always will be envy, poverty and dispair. The sad thing is that poverty is a behaviorial disorder, not a birth defect. The rich keep getting richer and the poor poorer because they keep doing the same thing that gets them there! Cry about something else, you losers.........

It never ceases to amaze me how ignorant liberals are about money. The estate taxes on his estate after death have got to be absolutely huge thanks to Billy Jeff Clinton's death tax. If he did put everything into a trust it still means that the heirs have a huge tax liability and selling the house will help settle the score with uncle Sam and the California State board of equalization. They'll be lucky to not owe anything to the goveernment after all the probate proceedings. There won't be any profit from this.

William Brown,
Before you even write about Bill Gates, you owe it to yourself to do some research. The BIll and Melinda Gates foundation have endowed more than $28.8 billion (as of January 2005) to support areas of global health and learning.
