Barbara Retracts; Sides With Rosie Over Trump

In what essentially amounts to a retraction, Barbara Walters said that ABC asked her to read a statement on today's episode of "The View" saying that Donald Trump never filed for personal bankruptcy -- something O'Donnell alleged during one of her rants against the combed-over billionaire. Babwa added that Rosie O'Donnell isn't going anywhere.

Walters said she never told her "friend" Donald Trump that she wanted Rosie off the show, saying, "Nothing could be further from the truth." O'Donnell is currently on vacation and Walters says she will be welcomed back "with open arms."

Trump and O'Donnell have been feuding ever since the Miss USA scandal, which Trump resolved by sending Tara Conner to rehab, but allowing her to keep her crown. Rosie, in her Rosie-esque way, questioned Trump's moral authority. Snarks have been flying ever since.

I thought she handled it in a really classy way. And the studio audience was really psyched that Rosie will be back next week.

I told you guys when this hit that the Rosie was near the truth but Ol' slickster Don knows how to force an issue . The Don was protected from being bankrupt by something similar to chapter 11 . This is not being bankrupt and indeed is more perfered . First you don't have to pay on what was owed in wages , bills etc . Then each year you can extend the protections . Don't take my word for it - just google " Trump owes me " and see what comes up ! The Good old don -- one of the few guys who admits he would date his daughter . Dickhead .

Walters is grovelling, something she's done rather well in recent years, and pandering to the lunatic fringe (O'Donnell). She's also fearful of the rath of the "mouth" O'Donell and scared to death about having her idiotic show, the "View", pulled from ABC. It's pathetic to see Walters sinking to this level and not showing any courage, integrity or spine.

truth matters:  1866 days ago

What Trump said was that Barbara "cannot stand Rosie" he never said "she regretted hiring Rosie". So Barbara cleaverly offered an empty apology. Barbara Walters is an enterainer, who benefits from The Views success. Ofcourse, she doesn't regret hiring Rosie, her ranting brings in the viewers. But go back and read Trumps qoutes....Barbara did not adress his claims, in any way.

If it is not one thing it is another with Rosie. Wouldn't the world be a nicer place if she were to just keep her thoughts to herself. Who really cares what she thinks anyways?

blah blah blah:  1866 days ago

I personally thought Barbara Walters handled the situation with dignity and class.
Good to see a few step up to the plate and confront Donald Trump. He is far from being the so called professional business man he wants everyone to think he is. He has shown his true colors in his insulting remarks, statements, and mannerism.

Take that....................The Donald (HAA) and stick it where the sun don't shine!
Just my own personal opinion

Barb only cares about ratings and that is what she is getting with the Rosie/Trump fued.
I think Barb would stab anyone in the back if it meant she got more publicity for this stupid show.

Don't believe it for one second. Barbara is playing to Rosie and Donald. Let's see if Rosie returns from the "so called" pre-planned, spend more time with the kids vacation. Most kids are back in school this week -eh?

Is this the same Barbara that gave Star carte blanche to lie about her next career move. Can anyone believe anything this so called journalist says.

BY THE WAY - TRY TO ORDER TICKETS FROM THE VIEW ONLINE. SUBMIT YOUR REQUEST AND YOU WOULD NOT BELIEVE WHAT PICTURES POPS UP. YES STAR IS STILL ON THE VIEW - JUST ONLINE.

Why does TMZ want to characterize this as a retraction and not a clarification?

Barbara was classy, Trump is a pig. That is all.
