I have mixed feelings about Walters doing a Palin interview at this point. It would depend on her approach, which I hope would be to try to get Palin to be clarified and identified through careful, clever journalism and provocation. That's what is needed, to understand what Palin is, in front of the nation, see what makes her tick without it being sugar coated or sound bite edited, see the nature of the beast operating unguarded and animated. People need to know how she thinks and behaves, not get sidetracked with her canned propaganda that she'll have prepared and practiced.

Steph, back in the days when Baba Wawa was a serious journalist, she would give a tough interview. But for the past 10 years or so she went the celeb route and went soft. You don't go from interviews with Castro and Anwar Sadat and the like, and then jump to paris hilton and britney and other fluff pieces. Barb went Hollywood BIG TIME. Gibson still is a legitimate journalist, that is probably why Palin chose him rather than baba.
