Granted it was his birthday, but for someone who's battled serious alcohol abuse, you can't claim a "sober" life when you're taking down a shot of 151.

Hey whamo, what's with calling people a "retard?"
This site isn't for 12 year old school boys, right. Grow
up and stop using hurtful demeaning language.
Uhm.. I hope everyone sees the difference here.. AJ was completely lost showing that he wasn't in control at the time and as for Nick.. He might have been drunk but not wasted.. so I think he has more control of his problem at this point than AJ.. It's sad to see AJ like that.. but that is alcoholism in a nut shell.. so imo He still has some what control of it.. or at least the people around him has so that he did not end up like AJ that night.. Because it wouldn't have been that difficult for him to get lost in the drinking, thinking that it was only for one night at his B-day party..But that doesn't mean I don't think it's stupid to risk anything by drinking when having that type of heart failure.. But then again I'm not an expert so I don't know if it's ok to have a couple of shots.. or even getting silly drunk at some occasions.. staying away from the whole club scene is a healthy option tho.. but I guess it's hard when you have that kind of life...oh.. this was one long post.. sorry.. I don't think this is news to you out there either... sorry :)
I am very sadden by this. I was a super huge Backstreet Boy when I was a kid. I even met Nick a few times and absoultely loved him. I read the article today and was really shocked that he did and does have an alcohol problem. Its kinda sad when you look at it because he has a heart problem called cardiomyopathy. he could die from sudden death-----massive heart attack. I know no one is perfect but nick is in the position where is was and still is loved by millions of girls.....they are going to see this and think that if nick carter can do it so can they......OMG nick is human and makes mistakes.....but come on he has a very serious heart condition and could die. I wonder if he wants to die at a young age??????
okay, i've adored nick for years, but i mean, come on! who didn't know he was a raging alcoholic and drug abuser?! back in 2002 i saw him perform in philadelphia at a club for 1200 where only 300 people showed up. my view was not at all compromised. only TWO songs in, he was SOAKED with sweat and could barely breathe, almost unable to
finish each lyric. his face was completely flushed and he couldn't stop sniffling, begging his stagehands for water. if this didn't make you realize the guy had a coke problem, then you were one naive little teeny bopper cookie. people are so shocked by this 'addict' admission, but i don't understand why. after aj went to rehab, nick even admitted without really confessing anything that he saw what his friend was going through, and it should have been enough to make him stop his own use, but he just couldn't. he believed his own demons weren't as gripping and life threatening as aj's, so he just kept on partying because it was no big deal. i'm not an alcoholic, and certainly don't believe i'm anyone to be giving advice to one, but if he were completely serious about keeping up his sobriety, he should NOT be in a club environment. especially one where he is the center of attention, and trying to show off for people to prove he's still relevant. there are a million and one other ways to celebrate one's birthday, and not one of them involves getting trashed. he says he's taking his condition seriously and changing his life for the better because he wants to live. what i don't think he's FULLY realized, is
that if he continues to 'relapse', especially due to 'keeping up appearances', he isn't going to live very long. oh and by the way, i'm in no way trying 'to kick him when he's down'. i support him, but obviously he needs a better circle of friends who actually support his struggle. yes, he's human, and yes, he'll make mistakes, but don't please don't try to coddle him by saying, 'it's just one drink'. one drink after being sober for so long, takes you right back to where the addiction ceased. if you stopped at 12 drinks a night, you're going to almost immediately going to go back to 12 drinks a night if you relapse. he's being a hypocrite by telling people he's sober and how he wants to help people exorcise their own demons they're too ashamed to admit, and then, so blatantly going out and drinking on stage, on CAMERA, the same week his 'sobriety' is announced. ------- sorry my post is so long, but this type of turn a blind eye attitude to this sort of problem plaguing america's youth, just really pisses me off :D
Why do you people feel like it's your right to judge other people especially when you personally do not know them? You do not know Nick and you have no idea about how he lives his personal life. Everyone slips up when they are battling something in their life. Do not judge him.
hey nick lay off that stuff can kill you what would your fans ( me included) think if they found out their favorite backstreet boy was dead how would they feel? think about that come on if aj can get sober so can you
"Ain't nothin but a heartache,(tell me why) Ain't nothin but a mistake (tell me why). I never wanna hear you say...I want it that way!"
In the People article Nick never said he stopped partying completely, he jsut quit partying ast hard, he use to drink alot, but now I think he allows himself to have one drink when he goes out and then he switches to bottled water, and as you can see from this video, he can't even finish the shot, I think that shows a little control. Nick has come a long way from where he was a couple years ago, I personally think he looks amazing and I support him in everthing he does, I just think he knows how to control himself when it comes to drinking, yes I understand he has a heart problem, but like I said he probably allows himself one drink and that's it. I know alot of people that went to his parties and said that he was drinking bottled water after he had his one drink, you guys just have a video of him taking a HALF a shot, he couldn't even finish it! KTBSPA!
Screw all of you people who are hating on nick, you'll hate on celebrities who have drinking problems or problems in general but when its a friend, family member, or yourself its completely different. i bet someone your close to has a problem and either refuse to get help or think they don't have a problem and go out and party constantly. so u people hate on Nick because hes on TV and hes famous but the reality of it is that he got help granted yea it was after he found out of his heart condition but at least he got help and lost all that weight and he doing a million times better . but there are people all over just like nick who have the same problem that are continuously kill themselves because they don't get help so screw all you people who are hating on nick because he overcame his problems now have you or your family member or even your friend(s), i'm betting half or them haven't and they are sitting on their ass, Now You Know I Have a Point!!!!
Britney Spears might miss a lot more 'X Factor' auditions ... because she can! Simon Cowell gave Brit damn near free reign in order to sign the pop star to that $15 million deal -- but is it backfiring? We'll tell you what peeps on the set are saying.Plus, Chris Jericho's…
