Jay-Z -- Chris Who?

2/15/2009 9:08 AM PST BY TMZ STAFF

jay-z, rihanna, chris brownJay-Z weighed in yesterday on the Rihanna situation, asking that everyone support her while she goes through this "tough time." And by "tough time" we think he means the whole assault thing.

But what's more important is what the rapper didn't say -- specifically, anything about the guy who actually beat the crap out of the singer -- allegedly.

Just seems like the right moment to talk about the whole domestic violence thing. But rappers are sounding more like insurance reps, guarding their words like muthas. The best is Ray J, who wished both Chris B and Rihanna "the best."

Mr. J sounds like a Hallmark card.

@ Rufus

You just wanted to have something negative to say. "Don't Snitch". This man wasn't even there how is he going to not snitch.

@ Sparky's

Her parents should be her protector. Yes, Rhianna is an adult but she started in the industry a minor and on top of that she is not from America. Which makes her vulnerable to the "American Way". They should definitely play a bigger role.

As far as I know, no one has officially said who did what to whom.
How the heck is he supposed to make comments on that? He wasn't there and didn't see what happened!

Sheesh, some of you folks with your 'ghetto' comments... go join the Klan and burn a freaking cross on someone's lawn.

No, not all brother's beat their women. There are men from all races that do beat on their women. It's sad but it happens. So stop trying to single out one race.

No one knows what really happened. The media is saying she had bite marks, black eyes, this and that. The story has changed so many times. All anyone know's is what was made up by the media.

Also, I am going to ask this question again and again and again. b/c if this really happened.

Can somebody please tell me where the h3ll was the PAPARAZZI when the fight went down?

They followed Chrianna the entire time they were in LA but no body has footage of this.

What freaking ever!!!!!!

Something happened but not to the extent the media is making it out to be.

1. There are plenty of white men that beat women. 2. JZ wasn't even there to comment. 3. At least he didn't make excuses like everyone else in the industry has. He left CBrown completely out of the comment and said support HER.

When are we going to get the full story on this?? Every other day, we get bits and pieces of this incident yet no full story. We need to know. Let's hear the 911 call, let's see some pictures, and let's read some official statements by Rihanna & Chris Brown. Everyone from their PR team to their grandmothers is speaking on this. Chris Brown needs to fess up. We all know he beat Rihanna. We just need to know why.

@ # 10

Why should anyone have rage at this point? NO ONE knows what really happened. NO ONE should take sides at this point. I do believe Chris and Rhianna needs someone to mentor them and show them the way. It's one thing to grow up in the music biz. But now-a-days the music biz is mixed with hollywood, sports, etc....

It's too much for someone that did not grow up in those surroundings.

Example: Let's send Chris and Rhianna to the Grammy's for the weekend even though they broke up 2 weeks ago. They will just have to play nice and pretend they are still together for the camera's.

That is that Hollywood bull. First of all, if two average people break up on a bad note and can't get along. How the H3ll are two people barely out of their teens going to pull that off. Somebody was asking for trouble.

This is from I don't think Jay-Z is going to say anything about Chris in might be seen as threats and the police could get involved.

Jay-Z struck a serious note Saturday when asked for his words of support for Rihanna.

"This is a real situation," he said in Phoenix at the Sprite Green presents the Third Annual Two Kings dinner with Jay-Z and Lebron James, as part of the NBA All-Star Weekend.

"You have to have compassion for others. Just imagine it being your sister or mom and then think about how we should talk about that," the hip-hop mogul, 39, continued.

"I just think we should all support her. She's going through a tough time. You have to realize she's a young girl, as well. She's very young."

Rihanna, 20, was allegedly attacked in Los Angeles on Feb. 8 by boyfriend Chris Brown, 19. He was arrested and may face charges from the district attorney.

Rihanna's father, Ronald Fenty, tells PEOPLE that his daughter, whom he saw Thursday in Barbados, is bruised, but "she will be all right."

Asked if he'd seen Rihanna, Jay-Z replied, "I don't want to go into it."

You are the idot. You know nothing about the "mentality" or you would not have even referenced it to this post. It has absolutely nothing to do with this post.

I'm not sure why they're "guarding their words", it's a fact that Rihanna was assaulted by Chris Brown, it doesn't matter WHAT the reason was behind it. Sure, I believe in guilty until proven innocent and all that but it's a cut and dry case here. I don't think Jay Z should be commenting, though, since he had an affair with Rihanna behind Beyonce's back. He should stay outta this one out of respect for his wife.

Why is it so easy to humiliate people for mistakes that have been made? In addition nobody knows every detail of what transpired would make sense to at least get an actual statement from Rihanna herself she being the victim instead of everybody just speculating. Has anybody stopped for a moment and wonder why his case was turned over to the D.A.'s office? And why prosecutors have asked for further investigation into the incident before they decide whether to press charges. It’s evident to me that the media blew this out of proportion and it would only be fear to give Chris some respect and moral support merely because he’s innocent until proven guilty.
