I wouldn't do it, but I'm not going to knock those who do. As long as the PJ's aren't torn (exposing themselves) or hanging down below the butt, who cares? I've seen Mr. T at a Market in Sherman Oaks, CA a couple of times, wearing his PJ's (with a Trench Coat) and Bedroom Slippers; in fact, he motioned for me and another shopper to go ahead of him, and stopped to speak with us (very nice guy).
