Jackson Memorabilia Missing

8/13/2009 2:45 PM PDT BY TMZ STAFF

Michael Jackson Memorabilia MissingSome of Michael Jackson's memorabilia is missing and the cops are on the case.

Jackson was in a prolonged legal dispute with a guy named Henry Vaccaro, who got a judgment against the singer in the 90s that Jackson never paid. Vaccaro ended up with a treasure trove of memorabilia, including 60 unreleased master tapes -- which contained 26 of Jackson's songs which have never been heard by the public.

We've been told the dispute between Jackson and Vaccaro lingered and recently Vaccaro agreed to give Jackson 8 items that Michael wanted. We do not know which specific items Jackson flagged.

We're told on July 19, two of Jackson's lawyers went with Vaccaro to the storage locker in Las Vegas where the memorabilia was being stored. According to Vaccaro, 114 items were missing, including the 8 items Jackson's lawyers were there to retrieve.

The items ended up being sold a week later by Clark County Public Auction owner Mario Trabado -- who says he acquired the items legally from a private seller.

Michael JacksonJackson's lawyers were suspicious and believe Vaccaro took the items out of the storage unit. Vaccaro says he removed nothing, and filed a report with the North Las Vegas Police Department.

The PD tells us they're investigating the case.

UPDATE: In a police report filed by Henry on July 31, he claimed over $1 million in losses from the missing items.

Susan why are you so obsessed? Did he stiff you? The man's career and earning potential was destroyed by Sneddon's kangaroo trial,

Go hunt for the diamonds Lindsay stole from the Elle shoot already. Talk to Chateu Marmont about unpaid bills.

...breathe and let it go Susan.

12. Right on CJ , that was Michael's one major issue is that he wanted to be THE greatest selling artist of all time...why ????
Why wasn't being known for your talent and making good money enough ?
Why was he obsessed with being the best ?
With being the best , came too heavy of a price...

Maybe because his father beat him if he wasn't "the best." So obviously that was something he felt had to do the rest of his life.

Check with Jermaine and La Toya... I'm sure those two are in collusion to get as much cash as they can. Nothing but a couple of dirtbags. Actually, haven't you noticed the two of them out there looking for financial opportunities wherever they can find them? I guess we all know who groveled to Michael for money throughout his career. Those two are freaking out! How are they going to survive now?

Being the best was drilled into him by his father. It became an obsession, thanks to Joe. Most abused children bring some "quirk" from early abuse into thier adult lives.

Nice picture of Michael, TMZ, thank you! :-) Keep it up. Also stop calling him names like the tabloids morons do, unless TMZ is a tabloid company? >.>
Also why did this guy sue Michael? What for? And how did this guy end up with 60+ unreleased songs...? Doesn't sound like something Michael would give up at all...

Actual the judgment in this case was against Michael's parents who defaulted on an agreemnet with Vacarro. Vacarro got Michael's memoribilia because the items were in a storage facility that belonged to his parents. His parents didn't pay the storage bill and Vacarro got all the contents of the storage in a judgement against Michael's family. So, once again Michael got screwed because of his families actions. Vacarro even admits that the suit had nothing to do with Michael Jackson. He also got some of Janet's things that were in the storage facility as well. Both Michael and Jjanet sued to get their things back because the suit against their parents had nothing to do with them yet their things were rewarded in a judgement because the items were in a storage facility that belonged to their parents. the public only gets part of a story and runs with it. I bet none of you who are writing comments about this story knew that the suit was not against Michael but against his parents and his belongings got caught up in the cross fire. TMZ probably knows this as well but left parts of the story out.

@9. Agreed. But he didn't really sign up for it you know. He was molded, pressured and conditioned by his father and motown. Sucess kept the beatings at bay, mother happy, the family taken care of. The minute the Jackson 5 were famous it got really huge...like David Cassidy.

He could have perhaps stopped as a teen when the madness quieted and taken a break but those living off him would not allow that. He was put down for the loss of his cute looks by Evil Joe.

I don't think anyone would choose it...noone. He hated the cage...hated it.

9. I really don't know why anyone would want to be famous, much less go as stratospheric as Jackson did.

Why not just be rich and powerful?

All you get with fame is hangers-on, fake friends and lots of people with bad intentions giving bad advice. All that can end-up happening is that the famous become paranoid (rightly so), but appearing entirely irrational to the "outside world".No wonder the life expectancy in Hollywood appears to be so low.

just sayin

i don't think this Vaccaro guy took the items as he's been in possession of the memorabillia for a long time now. it's his fault though for showing the storage warehouse on national tv. i remember watching a program about the stuff he posssesed on tv just a few months before mj died.
i may be wrong though because isn't this the same guy who wanted to put the stuff up for auction earlier this year.

Kiki - isn't this the stuff Liza Minelli's husband (David Gest) sold at auction in Vegas the day after Michael died? I read that the auction house estimated they would get about $6000 for the stuff and ended up getting over $200,000+ - then apparently David Gest sued them for selling the stuff -

I remember this guy....I am from NJ....and in our local paper, the day after MJ passed, here is this guy's photo and article about the MJ memorabilia at his STORE in NJ. How did this stuff end up in Nevada??? Did he move it after the article in the local paper? Something sounds fishy here. TMZ has the dates wrong, btw, the police report was filed on 7/31 and the memorabilia was sold at auction 5 days earlier....yes, that's right 5 days earlier....does it smell like fish in here?
