Plaxico's New Home -- Stark Reality

9/23/2009 1:59 PM PDT BY TMZ STAFF

We've learned Plaxico Burress has arrived at his new temporary home -- the medium-security Ulster Correctional Facility in Napanoch, NY.

This isn't his final destination -- he'll stay at Ulster until processing is completed -- anywhere from a couple of days to a few weeks.

Plax got standard clothing issue, a department ID card and he'll get a standard haircut and shave. He will also be strip searched and fingerprinted. He can make only one 10-minute phone call today.

Plax will be separated from the general population ... confined to a single cell. He gets to leave his cell for an hour in the morning and two hours at night.

For now, it's three meals a day and lights out at 11:00 PM.

He'll have it easy in there as a gay male. He used to frequent gay bars in Manhattan with his lover.

This is all some BS!! Now way this guy should be in jail for this charge and I'm NOT even a fan. I live in NYC and guys get caught with guns all thim time (with criminal records) and don't get 2 years. He might have been a A-Hole but he's no criminal. Its always a BIG (status wise)black guy who has to be made an example of.

I think there were a couple of consideration as to why his sentence was so harsh.
1. This was a federal offense Chris Browns was local court case.
2. The gun was unregistered and the feds look on that as he was probably going to use it for something illegal and violent.
3. He took a loaded gun into a public place & could have caused injury or death to an innocent person.
While I personally believe everyone is right about Chris Brown getting off easy. I guess he had to kill Rihanna in order to be sent to jail. GO FIGURE!

NY will have a THREE BILLION DOLLAR budget deficit and crap like this is why. This guy should be on house arrest in a roach infested apartment in the inner city on his OWN DIME. Not prison on the tax payers nickel.

Absolutely Ridiculous.

2 YEARS????

CHRIS BROWN GETS A VACATION PLAYING WITH OTHERS CLEANING FREEWAYS.

Get his lawyer working for his defense. He had no previous handgun charges, he is a good man & father/husband. He will be home for Christmas in my book..............

I watched TMZ last night and had to laugh a Harvey talking about how ridiculous this sentence was. I think what he failed to grasp is that New York actually prosecutes criminals regardless of their celebrity status, where as California lets them run rampant over all laws. CA should take a note from NY!

My previous posting was wrong. He was not tried in fed court but NY Supreme Court. I now agree with most of you that the sentence was harsh compared to Chris Brown. CB was out of control and could have easily killed Rihanna. Plaxico was just plain stupid. But he could have killed himself or an innocent person.
Maybe it's because CB was tried in LA. We're known for our leniency with celebs.

Are they going to be wanting his tax money while he's locked up in jail because that would be adding insult to injury.

Amen #29. Exactly what I was thinking.

Dude had illegal firearm. Dude was a stupid a-- and shot himself at a club. Judge threw dude in jail just like anyone else who discharged an illegal firearm in a public place.

Good to know New York does not pander to celebrities like wimpy Caleefornia (as the govenator says it.) You wanna be a celebrity piece of garbage thug? Then go live in Cali la la land. Because NY Don't Play That!

This guy is a two-bit thug and is in prison exactly where he belongs and would have wound up there anyway had he not been deified as a god by the NFL and its followers. If he was such a wonderful piece of humanity, then why was he in a place where he "needed" to carry a lethal weapon? Please people. Put away the violins. Especially you, Harvey.

What will be interesting is if Junior Gotti gets off once again. Sure looks like he's the Teflon Don Redux. But at least a NY jury sent him to prison already. Let's see if he gets off this time.

Truth be told he should have just used a public defender for a sentence like this.. It a waste of taxes dollars, yes he should be punished but this is over kill.. Good job NY..

To #26

Not only could he have killed someone else, he chose to illegally carry a concealed weapon in a city with tough gun control laws. I'm sorry that his son and unborn child will be without him but just maybe, Mr. Burress should have considered the ramifications of taking a loaded gun into a nightclub. Personal responsibility -- why is it is such short supply these days?

If you are going out to a place where you believe you need a gun for protection, I would say it would a a good idea not to go there.
