Anka said he was humbled by the compliment.

Posted at 9:58PM on Oct 12th 2009 by HATERS RULE
It must take an awful lot of energy to hate a dead man! Haters don't rule; they are sad, pathetic creatures to be pitied because by hating Michael (who I'd venture to say you don't know much about) you are using up precious space in your heart to love, to laugh, to enjoy life and other people. But that little black lump of flesh that beats in your chest won't let you, and I for one feel sorry for you. Honestly. Sometimes I get riled up by you haters, but when I think about it, how lonely and sad must your life be to pick on a dead man and the people who love him. It's really, really sad.

EXCUSE ME, PAUL
Let's get this straight .....
Michael didn't steal anything from you
You and Michael wrote this song over 30
years ago that you both collaboratored
on, So it's as much Michael's as it yours
With all butt-kissing coming from the
MJJ Administrators...
Personally... its sounds like classic
Michael "his style"

@way to go
You can put 100 songs up here and there is still no comparison. Anka getting paid still does not change the fact that Micheal totally rejected the song. Another poster has already put up the copyright information showing MICHAEL JACKSON did in fact have rights to the song. But besides all that, this was a song put out there to benefit the brothers (getting paid for their background vocals), it was messy (Randy and Joe)the way it even came about and now look what has happened. Michael Jackson fans loved the song, but know something was wrong with it and they also know Michael would NOT have put it out like that. Now, knowing that Anka has purposely attempted to tarnish Michael's name, his royalties will not not amount to what he thinks they will. Michael has other songs people will buy Can you say backlash with a capitol B? This may be the first good example of the strength of the Michael Jackson fans to protect his legacy. BACKLASH.
(Smack!!) Ouch! Michael stole the tapes?? I have this image of things getting all huffy & Michael actually grabbing the tapes & hi-tailing it out the door! lol! Ahhh, give the man his 50%, he's due. Doesn't MJ have about a gazillion the vault anyway?

Paul Anka is a wonderful, talented songwriter....maybe the best, however I feel it was in poor taste to reveal that comment at the end about Michael's songwriting.Michael wrote 'Gone to Soon' which is far superior to 'This Is It',so perhaps Paul needs to get his ego in check.I am glad it is all resolved though.

It was in poor taste for Paul to say that, I feel, but Michael didn't write "Gone Too Soon". Check the credits for that song in your Dangerous CD.
Just had to clarify that.

Hi Janalal4! I couldn't agree with you more! And to those wondering why it took so long for him to speak up - we don't know, we weren't there, but I would guess that it was a case of "out of sight out of mind", meaning he didn't think about it until he heard This is It. That doesn't make him a monster, he should get paid for his work, no longer how long it has been. And I agree with whoever said Michael probably didn't steal it, but was protecting his vocal tracks by putting the tape away since he wasn't going to use it. Nothing to see here, folks, move along.

i tried paul anka offical website but the contact us button is no longer in service.i hope he comes out and says he used a poor choice of words when it comes to stealing.they really put a bummer ont he movie comming out .i like mj old stuff anyway.this movie is just leaving a bad taste in ones mouth..greed its depressing.the lawyer realized they f..ked up so they insulted mj to appease anka .forget it .ill be watching mj on youtube...and before people jump on me..yes paul anka is a great artist..but like mj said great artist dont have to put other artists down.
104. I guess the world got it wrong - Paul Anka is the real King of Pop.
Posted at 10:11PM on Oct 12th 2009 by nevermind
I grew up listening to Paul Anka - I had no choice, my mother played his records over and over. I would say, not the King of Pop, more like the King of Easy Listening. He is a very talented man, just different than Michael in his style of writing. While I do not begrudge him his prolific songwriting, singing, having others record his work, etc, he was NOT MICHAEL. Michael was unique. There aren't many artists that could do Michael's songs - they just wouldn't sound right.
Next time you are in an elevator and you hear the Muzak, you just might be listening to Paul Anka.
No one was insulting Michael. Saying this song was not his style of writing is not an insult. It's clearly more Paul Anka's style of writing. Anka was writing great songs for many artists long before anyone knew who Michael Jackson was including "My Way" for Frank Sinatra and the theme song for Johnny Carson. And he did it without drugs. I'd take Paul's worst song over Michael's best song any day. If they were both alive and doing a concert on the same day, it would be a no brainer. I'd see Paul. Btw, Paul Lynn, the name was Paul Lynde.

LOOKS LIKE PAUL HAS DONE WAY MORE THE MJ CAN EVER IMAGINE. WAY TO PAUL......
Anka's an ass and McClain should be removed as Special Administrator if that is what he thinks of MJ. Michael JOHNSON?? I mean, really, Anka. If your memory is that awful, how can we believe your claim?
MJ co-wrote the song, and NEWSFLASH, if he weren't singing it no one would know of it to this day.
Takes a lot of NERVE to now claim he stole it from you. I won't buy it. Count me OUT.
