Flash mobs usually pay homage to musicians who are no longer with us -- or at least ones who aren't right there -- but the Janet Jackson mob this weekend had a very special guest ... Janet herself!

But it wasn't a coincidence -- it was all to promote Janet's greatest hits album, which comes out Tuesday.

Yeah they told people on her Twitter beforehand that she was going to show up, I'm guessing to bump numbers up from a previous one not long ago also to promote the album. I think there's still one more to come.

Michael was THE MAN but Janet kicks butt too. She has an excellent body of work and can be proud. She's still beautiful and I'm sure she can still bring down the house. Saw her in Vegas years ago. One of the best concerts ever!!!
