Brittany Murphy's Husband Doesn't Want Autopsy

12/20/2009 7:47 PM PST BY TMZ STAFF

Brittany Murphy's husband, Simon Monjack, told hospital staff at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center he did not want an autopsy performed on his deceased wife, multiple sources tell TMZ.

Simon Monjack, Brittany Murphy

We're told, however, despite Monjack's wishes, the L.A. County Coroner's office will perform an autopsy on Murphy. As we first reported, Murphy went into cardiac arrest this morning and could not be revived.

TMZ has also learned Brittany Murphy's mother, who found Murphy unconscious in the shower and called 911, told paramedics her daughter had a history of diabetes. We have not been able to confirm if Murphy did indeed have diabetes, and if so, whether it contributed to her death.

-- Ed Winter from the L.A. County Coroner's Office tells TMZ foul play is not suspected at this time. Some prescriptions were found in the house, but he wouldn't say what kind, and they will be examined as well. Toxicology tests will be performed, which could take up to six weeks.

Jewish = no autopsies? I find that hard to believe. Are they that freaking stupid and backward? I mean evidence from Israeli politics aside...........

Sorry, but this whole thing smells of cocaine to me. They probably partied hardy last night and over did it. Very sad.

Lets not look past death... She left so young and she'll be deeply missed. Everyone give a moment of blessings to her and her family... This isn't the kind of stuff anyone of us wants to deal with. No trying to be the hero here... Just putting the message out there because I know us humans have the tendacy to find gossip as topic conversations... Focus on the positive... Life's not forever...

The 'bash topic' of the day, should by how TMZ and Perez have become our breaking news source... I was actually watching the news when I received the sad text. Way to go TMZ... Looks like you may become prime time news... Watch out CNN.

Here is what Brittany had to say about her husband that everyone thinks is so evil... Sounds like she's known him for 15 or so years, maybe she knew him better than you guys??

Some excerpts from her on her husband ...

On what she enjoys most about being married to Simon Monjack: "Getting up every morning and going to sleep every night next to my soul mate."

On when and how she met Con-Jack: "We first met when I was 17 years old. We checked in with each other throughout the years and remained friends. The easiest decision I ever had in my life was getting married."

On the the most romantic thing Simon has done for her: "He’s flown around the world to make sure we spend every single night together."

On whether she wants kids: "I hope to have a few. I’ve always loved kids and babies and always wanted to be a mom. Hopefully soon."

So strange how one can defend against drugs or anorexia by claiming that many her age have died from naturally occurring cardiac arrest ("it happens") to accusing her husband of killing her.

Standing by the edge

This is HIGHLY suspicious. Yeah, I get it about him being Jewish but she wasn't so why should he impose his personal wishes? There is definitely something going on - first she didn't want him checked out at a hospital a week or two ago when he had an episode on a plane now he doesn't want her checked out after dying unexpectedly at a young, healthy age. Do the autopsy and the drug screening. There's your answer

Hey Poster #61:

For Judaism, an autopsy may be performed when the cause of death is undetermined, when the autopsy may help save the lives of others, or when relatives might benefit from the knowledge gained by autopsy

In general, Jewish tradition forbids autopsies on the grounds that the body is sacred and should not be violated after death. However, autopsies are permitted in two specific cases:

1. When the physician claims that it could provide new knowledge that would help cure others suffering from the same disease;

2. When the law of the land requires it.

However, in all cases, the entire body is to be buried following the autopsy.

Because he is the legal next of kin. As the spouse, unless she left some sort of specific orders to what she wants done it's his call. That is common and normal procedure.

Mike Tyson

Well...Jewish or whatever...if your spouse dies unexpectedly at 32...the police are absolutely going to make sure the coroner does an autopsy. And asking them not to do an autopsy is certainly going to guarantee the police will certainly be keeping you on their radar screen until they know for certain there was no foul play. This husband is certainly not the sharpest knife in the drawer.

Why would a husband not want his wife to have an autopsy when she died at 32? He is one shady man.

Probably abuse of substances like cocaine.

So, less than a month ago he stopped breathing on a plane and she didn't think the EMT's should have been called. Now she's dead and he doesnt want an autopsy done. this whole thing sounds strange!!!!
