Vanessa Hudgens Suffers Cosmetic Damage

Vanessa Hudgens endured a small personal tragedy earlier today -- she severely scratched up the front of her very expensive automobile.

It's unclear how the damage to the front passenger side of her new Audi occurred -- but the "High School Musical" star was seen waiting in a West Hollywood supermarket parking lot while a AAA employee helped her get back on the road.

Car CrashesFortunately, she can probably afford the repair bill.

UPDATE: Vanessa's rep tells TMZ she only suffered a flat tire and was not involved in any sort of collision.

As for how the scratches occurred -- the rep says it's a mystery to him.

The scratches are from a few days ago - and the car is a couple of years old. Can't TMZ stay current about anything. And a lot of people have a flat tire.
